Do you dream about pool?

When I was first getting into pool, I would dream about patterns and work them out in my mind. Then it was safeties. I haven't dreamed about pool for some time now, but I did last night.

I dreamed I was at a women's tournament (probably the Regional Tour Championships I will be playing in next week) and I won my first match. However, the tournament director wrote my name down on the loser's side (which oddly enough was on the right side of the board  ) and my friends from my tour kept telling me that that was wrong, to go and talk to the TD.

So I do, and they move me over to the left side of the board (again  ) and the way the board is set up, is like a stair step ladder and the next opponent is going to be a Lara. I don't know any Lara's spelled that way.

I went back over to talk to my friends and we had a good gab session and then I woke up before I was called for my match.

I would like to know if anyone else dreams about pool. (And no smart a$$ ones you make up that has you beating Efren or something. )

I dream about pool pretty often. When I first got serious about playing 1-pocket, thats all I dreamed about for months. Sometimes I will dream about a trap I could have set during a game I played earlier that day, or a way out of a trap that I didn't see when I was playing.

I have a friend who's an attorney, and he keeps a notepad by his bed because he sometimes dreams up a solution to a big case he's working on.

Yes I dream about pool. Many aspects from time to time. Most recently I dreamed about banking balls. I have had dreams ranging from fundamentals to game situations.

Yep, I do dream about the game way too often.. Caught myself daydreaming this morning working out patterns in my head. I go through streaks where I think about it way too often, other times not so much.

Lately, with the DCC excitement, I found myself thinking about the game entirely too much... Driving, working, laying in bed etc... Man, I love this game. It's my vice and I don't want to kick it.

I've had a few nightmares about playing pool. Oh wait, I WAS playing when those nightmares occurred!:D

I dream about pool all the time, normally it has more to do with the pressure of it, me making a good shot, and missing the easy ones :o

BTW someone once told me, "every shot that drops is a good shot" And then I brought up leaves and shapes and he shut his mouth...

When I started playing APA my team made it to the finals to play a match to go to Las Vegas and we lost in the final match after my player hung the 8 ball in the pocket after making an incredible cut shot. The ball would have fallen on a faster table, but the cloth on this particular table was very slow and the ball just rolled into the jaws of the pocket and stopped. If it fell in we would have won the trip, but it didn't and the other team won and it took me months to get over that loss. I don't think I dreamed about it, but it did enter my mind many times because it's very hard to win here in Charleston with all of the teams in our league.

Ok i just used the freaky dream analyzer on your dream.

Coupled with other analyzed words here are the results:
Words like playing: Amusement. Joy. Free movement. Need for fun and carefreeness.

Words like down: Overturned. Confusion. Great disorder. You want to straighten something out.

Words like friends: Joy and consolation. Aspect of self ready for integration.

Words like up: Feminine projection. Improved image. How do you want to be seeing in the outside world.

Words like stair: Up or down. Aspirations .Looking to get to certain point against all opposition.

Words like ladder: Reaching upward. Profit.Success. Unexpected good fortune.

Words like back: Changes in life. Family arguments. Approaching money.

Here's my interpetation of your dream. I believe the name Lara is in referance to "Vincent Lauria" Tom Cruises character in "The Color of Money" movie. There is confusion and disorder that you must play such a great money player and you don't know his speed. Not only that but who is this goofball TD running the show? But you are ready for the integration. Do you find him cute? Sexy? Skip it...my bad...

You want to win this bad, all your aspirations of success hinge all on this moment and you feel good and confident that the outcome will be in your favor.

Go get 'em my Queen!!!

Now my dream is different...

That's right it supposed to be a dream about pool, again my fault. In any evening I play, I cant get the angles, speed, and motions of the balls out of my head as I fall asleep. Sometimes I dream about pool then but not too often.

I find my dreams come when I anticipate playing in an upcoming event. Much like you are. I dreamed the last 2 years we won the city tournament. We did...

Yup, dream about it. But usually around tournment or league time. Not always. I do take the time on the drive back home from the pool hall to review how I played though.

ez

I dream about pool all the time lately. Its nice because I hadn't in a long time. I've been playing almost 6 years, and I always had dreams about it when I started, but had stopped. Lately I've been having them again. I honestly did have a dream where I played Efren, but I don't remember who won.

I also have been dreaming about Fencing lately. I was on the fencing team in high school. They had it on TV here for a couple weeks straight (asian games) and I guess it brought back some old memories.:)

Dreaming about pool is one of the fringe benefits of the game. It also serves as a form of mental rehearsal, which psychological studies indicate contributes to performance. It definitely beats nightmares.

Thanks for the analysis of my dream, lol. I think you posted a picture of Lara!

The dreams I love to have are of doing gymnastics again. I was a State gymnast in high school and I would find any curb or raised bed to do cartwheels on, or any big expanse of green grass to do front and backhandsprings, aerials, and back sommies on.

I get that feeling of flying through the air, and even running to do a roundoff...it's very freeing - spinning through the air. :p I do them over and over again. My buddies from gymnastics are there usually in my dream too. Sometimes we are on a big lawn and sometimes in the gym with all the mats.

I am a serial dreamer and have these huge movie plots with color, and analysis while I am in the dream from several viewpoints, which is weird, because how would I have known it in the first place when I was dreaming it? I ask myself that in the dream.

I hate the ones that involve my kids getting hurt. :( Or me. :D

We have a fellow in our pool room we call Farmer. Now Farmer is the nicest guy you will ever meet. He would not harm a Flea, but Farmer is a product of the 60's. He is always smiling, friendly, and will help any one with anything he can.

Farmer is though the closest thing to the character Jim on the TV show Taxi, that you could ever imagine. Just OUTRAGEOUS.

I walked into the pool room one afternoon and Farmer came over and was very excited about a dream he had the night before. He said that all night he had gotten to play,,,,, "Jesus Christ" Now this dream concerned me and to be honest I was rather reluctant to even listen as it made me a bit uncomfortable.

I did ask though, "Did you win"?

No, hell no, not even one single game, the Dude, can really play. He never missed a single ball and I told him he was getting lucky", He tells me!

" Well what made him so lucky" I asked?

Farmer then says, " when I called him lucky, he got pissed at me and shot a masse shot on every ball after that. He is the only person I ever played that got that mad"!!

" you never won a game" I ask?

" NO, NOT ONE SINGLE GAME, NOT ONE SINGLE @#$%^&* Game", and by now, he is very excited and then after some thought, he looks up at me and says,,,,,,, I'll see ya later, I'm going home and play him some more!!"

I never asked Farmer about his rematch with Jesus Christ, but I don't doubt a word he says as Farmer is incapable of a lie, and to be honest it is a subject which really concerns me. I can understand Jesus getting a little fired up at Farmer, but I don't want him fired up at me, as I have enough problems.

What?! There are people who don't dream about pool?

I've always dreamt about pool--never about playing a superstar or anything like that, but about running racks and getting out of certain traps and what not. Sometimes I dream about practicing, and getting the cueball to a certain spot.

I find that when I dream about the game a lot I experience a corresponding ease and clarity in my game. Obviously, I'm programming certain shots into my subconscious mind during this process. When I'm really playing well and it looks like I can run racks in my sleep, it's because I do!
