Grow up its the year 2023.

Do you want to go back to supporting obnoxious personalities like Minnesota Fats or the elitist Mosconi?
So you are saying that your Academy founder/partner's pool crush was elitist?

Let's take it one at a time. Why do you call Mosconi elitist?

There are the players that introduces you to pool. Everyone has their first favorite.

Then there are the new players. Do you get a pool crush with the new people each year?
Kind of a dumb question but for me it was Mosconi. In the 60s he put on a zillion exhibitions and I was like a stalker. I was at so many I got to know him. In those days he always played some locals 150 point games. I could not get enough of him often driving 50 or 100 miles to see him.

When Kaci first came on the pool scene, I and many other ladies thought of him as eye candy. He made his mark in the pool world at the age of 18 when he hit the semifinals of the World Pool Championship. He got some seasoning when he traveled in USA with a steer who got him in action and competing in some American pool events. Interestingly, he used to play snooker before entering entering the pool tournament circuit.

Before anybody thinks I'm a cougar, I am friends with his mom, and those who know me well are aware that I do admire Kaci as a young pool phenom, and yes, I think he is very handsome. I have always been a strong supporter of his as a virtual railbird.

Most know that pool pro players cannot get rich playing pool professionally. The money is just not there—yet. Even with Matchroom's $60,000 first-place prize money, pool still trails behind other professional supports when it comes to making a living. Players like Allen Hopkins, Nick Varner, and a few others capitalized on their pool backgrounds and have managed to make a living off of pool. Some other great pool champions have died penniless and forgotten when they couldn't run a rack anymore.

It is my understanding the Kaci is an owner or part-owner in a pool room located in Albania. I saw a video of it, and it is first class, a really nice place. I wish him all the best in this endeavor. It's a good backup plan just in case pool's payouts stagnate and/or never elevate. I also read that Jayson Shaw is in the throes of starting a pool room in Dubai or somewhere overseas in the Middle East.

It is important to remember that Shane Van Boening himself said on "60 Minutes" that a pool player cannot earn a million dollars, that most don't make $100,000. Anyone who has played pool professionally knows how expensive it is to travel around the world, pay for air fare, lodging, food, and other necessary expenses when living out of a suitcase.

You should work on your verbiage because asking about someone's crush and asking about someone's favorite pool player are two completely different things. And, based on the answers that have already been posted, I don't think I'm the only one confused by it.
The Cue spectator association assigned to the North Eastern Billiard Fans association has proposed the definition of a pool crush to be classified by the following criteria:

Pool Crush Eligibility determined by:
a) A player that has participated in the current calendar year at one of the big three pool production bodies or in a sanctioned pool tournament.
b) A player with a public social media account.

The criteria for a cue spectator to qualify a pool crush is:
a) follow the player on social media
b) you engage (like, share, or comment) on their social media accounts
c) you engage on their accounts using your personal account connected to at least one billiard organization (trade, player, promotion, or sanctioning body)

This is an operational definition for a pool crush based on social norms for pool fans on AZbilliards.

Sorry you asked I bet Jimmy...

If I develop a pool crush I'm going all in. I'll create a fake newsletter devoted to him, suck up to every post he makes, invent a fake Academy dedicated to him...maybe even ghost write a fake book for him. It would be so dreamy if he gave me a pet name.

I definitely grew up with a pool crush on Loree Jon. She came to Phoenix years ago for a Poker Pool exhibition and I couldn't gather up the nerve to walk over and talk to her. My buddy talked to her and motioned my way, and she came over and introduced herself. I got an autographed picture out of it.

It took you 24 hours to come up with that?

I got to play Jeanette Lee at a local AAF Base in the mid-nineties and I've been smitten ever since.

In spite of her recent health issues, she is still in high spirits.
SHe visted Osan AB when I was stationed there, missed all fo the show due to PT, but did arrive in time to line up for a pic. I also bought her book at some point while stationed there, as well.

I might as well show my age.

Eva Mataya Laurence.

The cover she did on Sports Illustrated still is with me.

One beautiful, wonderful lady!
