Do you know anyone that has been banned from a pool room?

Yep I was one time in my life, at Antique Billiards in Colorado Springs over 25 cents.
Never went back.
I realized one day, Jim Barbers wife would always clock me ON when I walked in the door, not at a table yet, and had my cue still in my case.
When I went to pay time, I shorted her a quarter.
That's how $he roll$.

Here in Holland, we recently had a guy that was banned because he relieved himself on the carpet all around a pooltable. A lot went on with this guy in the weeks leading to this, but this was the last straw.

Did he 'accidentally' smash his face into the door jam as he was being bum rushed out?
 
I think anyone that hangs around a pool room enough knows someone who has been banned from it.

I’ve done biz in some places like that….sometimes I would decide not to play.
 
Took me 3 years to get the owners husband/Jim, to double the bet playing em cheap $10 sets races to 5.
We finally got it to $20 then he later on wanted to lower it back. Never played em again.

And the irony, Kid Delicious came thru, beat him outta $7K giving him weight in his own room on his favorite table.
Because of that Lo$$.
Wife made him Quit pool.
He hasn't played since Kid Delicious cashed Out.
Paybacks are a MF eh :).

Playing at Kenny the Truckdriver’s home room in Columbus OH with the Piano Teacher on cloth that never gets cleaned…the cloth is pretty new and you already can hardly make a ball on the break. I’m up a couple thou from one pocket with his backer…we are now playing $50 nine ball. So while I’m waiting for my opponent to sort his way out of a trap I sit down on the next table, right on the playing surface.
The Mom of the Mom and Pop operation came over and said “You’re a good player, you know better than to sit on a table.”.
I said “I’ll stop sitting on the table when you start cleaning it.” She walked back behind the counter….I wouldn’t have minded being barred.

I offered to buy her a vacuum cleaner when I payed my table but she confessed she had one.

I was up about 3Gs when the room closed…we went to the backer’s home….turns out he was wealthy from construction and has a beautiful
home with a gorgeous table with room for three more….I said “Wait a minute, we gotta play for a G note a game…he would only play for a hundred.…..but I had a good night.
 
I have also tried to walk in to several billiards room, but many are not open to the public or require a membership.

When people discuss poolrooms and bans, there is a wide range.

Bans at the room level are a way to measure culture. Bans at the governing structure level would be a way to say the governing structure is not supported by the local room culture.

As a global sport the differences of upbringing by different countries is very insightful into a governments culture.

The main difficulty in the English language being the overlapping and contrasting uses of various words, concepts or structures.

In most cases bans are evidenced based. In other cases bans are political.

Why aren't fines more appropriate than bans?
