Do you shot better pool on a Diamond table?

I play MUCH better on GC table for one simple fact ( tightness doesnt bother me) I like the SOUND i get when i hit a ball into the back of the pocket on a GC and my opponent hates it. By the way Im told i shoot kinda hard but to me its normal and when i spear a ball in on a diamond all I hear is thunk not that crisp SLAPPPPPPPPPPPPP like on a GC.

Pool is a head game and that is the only reason i can find for me.
 
For me, I play better on a Diamond. I think it has to do with the cloth color and the Diamond light. I see everything more clearly, especially the balls and pockets. Also the way the Diamond pockets accept balls makes me focus on every shot. And I try to play a simple game , not get greedy cheating pockets.

When did they make the change from the "old" pin ball cushions to the "new" ones you speak of? Just curious?

I like Diamonds, but NOT when I'm stuck with the pinball cusions that is tough to even play a safety on..... man, I swear when lagging for the break, the ball comes back faster off the cushion than I hit down there... crazy fast rails.... the news ONES are great though :)

Diamond's sub-rail design was changed 3 years ago this month, thus the blue Diamond logo ;)
 
I usually play on GCs, not by choice but because they are more plentiful where I live. I don't know for sure, but Brunswick seems to have worked out the issues long ago and Diamond is still finding their way. Why would they have produced and released so many tables with problems like the rails playing off? Job security for RKC? Didn't they know? That's a pretty big problem, but as said by others, the trick is how well you adjust.
 
I don't care for Diamonds. I don't like hitting 95% of shots at less than lag speed. People that like them are generally people who have accuracy issues when shooting with power, so they prefer to roll every ball.

As the late Professor said, sometimes I like to hear a ball go "whump!" when it hits the pocket. :)
 
I play best on whichever table has the biggest pockets.:grin-square: I made a template of the corner pocket of my GCI, what I noticed comparing it to a Valley and Diamond bar box is that the GC seemed to have a wider pocket by about 1/4", or an 1/8" per cushion edge than both the Valley and Diamond which seemed pretty close width wise. The GC has a much deeper shelf than either the Valley or the Diamond which seem very close to each other. I did not make a Valley template but as close as I can estimate the actual pocket and shelf dimensions seem very similar between a Valley and a Diamond, the Diamond may be up to an 1/8" narrower and maybe an 1/8" deeper shelf than the Valley. To me it seems the deeper shelf makes the pocket play tougher than the narrower width, but maybe thats because I play more on my table than others and the shots are usually tougher because of the extra table size.
