Do You Want Pool to be a Business or a Sport?

Sports can be big business. So can games... Not mutually exclusive and can come about in either order.

I'd rather see Pool become a Sport that has Professional Players competing in tournaments on a weekly basis. Once the prize money is definitely at a professional level, we will will then have sponsors of all kinds & TV will not be far behind.

The industry will be the business, the players will be the sportsmen / sportswomen.

In order for a sport to survive or advance it must follow a good business model.
Which came first the chicken or the egg? Whatever the order, you can't have one without the other.

Well.... if Pool became a true professional Sport, had sponsors & was on TV like the other sports, would YOU help support it...?

I don't think what I want or don't want will have anything to do which what pool is or will become.

Is baseball a business or a sport?

The answer depends on who you are. If you're a 10-year old in the schoolyard, it's a sport. If you're a MLB player, it's a business.

For me, pool is a sport (or game) since I'll never make a penny playing pool. Sure, I'd like to see the pros make more money, but I'd like to see nurses make more money too.

Successful Business

I would like to see Pool to first become a successful business with plans for marketing to new demographics and plans for In House Leagues of those better demographics.

I have seen this kind of setup and those people who have disposable income have a good time and they spend money on drinks and food.

I think that supporting the rooms in which you play team pool is a good prescription for a business plan. I would like to see the league systems show some thankfulness for the rooms that host them and make them money.

Successful business first, then the rest will happen because there will be a money trail.

Not sure I understand the question?

I would like to see professional pool be a business that provides a great living for at least 128 player around the world with a clear pathway to that level.

I would like to see amateur pool have more structure and be treated like a sport in the United States.

Sad but pool will never be big on tv. When professionals play at their high level pool is boring to only a very few. Every shot looks easy because they know how to put the cue ball on a dime. I would love it to happen. It almost did in the 90's but, as pool always seems to do, the players ended up shooting themselves in the foot. Put what the sponsor sold aside, the Camel Pro Tour was the last best chance.

As long as there are markets for golf, poker and cars going in a circle you'll never convince me there isn't one for pool.

If there was someone would be televising it. I'm not sure of this but I don't think the Challenge of Champions is carried on ESPN any longer.

They taped it. I think it's airing in December.

It also hurts that networks have no governing body to negotiate with.
