Thank you all for the kind words and the jokes which were cool too. I am in no way giving up or stopping playing pool. I can give up the little gambling I do on the pool table now. What really will hurt is giving up betting dogs and watch my money go around the track on the net. Oh well, with the extra time I'll probably start writing again. Thank you all again. Johnnyt
Hey Johnny,
Back in May, I had an infection in my foot and apparently from some sort of bite. It was on my little toe to be specific. My foot and leg were very swollen. I got to the DR quickly which they cleaned up, put me on anti-biotics and in a few days, we thought it was over with. Only about two weeks later, it reappeared and worse this time. Went back to othe Dr and the same routne and in a couple of days we thought it was over with. To weeks later, back again. Went to the DR and this time they sent me straight to the hospital concerned that the infection had hit the bone.
This time they kept me there and 3 days later the infection was no better and they told me that I was scheduled for surgery the following day and that they wouold do all they could to save my leg. Now, they really had my attention and nobody had mentioned anything about this so far. I near S___ mt pants.
Well they wanted to try one more antibiotic and I guess it payed off to sme degree because they postponed the surgery for two more days and then took me in and amputated the little toe. It was bad, but, in this case, I was very reateful to still have my foot and my leg. It was all about what I had saved vs. what I lost. It has since healed perfectly and I don't even miss the dam thing.
About 6 weeks later I got the cast off and I was itcing to play some and just do anything at all. I went to the pool hall and got into a 1 pocket game. I'm diabetic and felt a litte queezy and didn't think a lot of it when BAM! I totally balcked out and hit the side of the table, totally ballcked out. I cracked my eye socket and broke my nose when I hit the table. The guy I was playing nearly had the heart attack.
I got to the DR and I had a slight heart attack. My blood pressure was incredibly low, but rebounded very quickly. Like you they told me to avoid all stressful situations as best I could. He told me to avoid the stress, but,,,,to enjoy life. That was about the most confusing information I had ever heard.
So, I quit playing,,,,,again,,,, for a total of 4 days.
Now I'm not suggesting you follow my plan at all because your situation sounds much more severe than mine, but, i think I can appreciate how you feel. I hope you do waht is best for you to continue with a safe and full life. SOme decisions we are face with seem so very critical to us and so very simple to others. All I'm saying, is do what is best for you and your family and please know I'm in your corner and will pray for you.
DO like you always have, Give em Hell!!!
