does kamui black super soft tip and OB1 shaft go good together?

I have a ob1 shaft and am thinking about putting on a kamui black super

soft tip. but on kamuis site it says :


" (SS) Super Soft - Extraordinarily soft in hardness and gives the least

deflection to the cue ball’s path. It works well with a cue with high

deflection. The contact time between the cue ball and the tip is the

longest of the other hardnesses and the player can convert the

momentum into spin with decreased deflection. Suggested for the

advanced player on new cloth at a tournament. "


and im pretty sure my ob1 is a high performance low deflection shaft.

so my question is would they still work good together since its a low

deflection shaft and not a high deflection? or is there a better combination

out there that wuld work better together to get me more cueball control

and english then this tip would?

Not quite the same but I have a kamui black soft on my ob2 and it plays great!

The Kamui black super soft is a great tip, and they play very well on all our OB shafts.

It is the softest of the Kamui tips, so if you want something a little firmer you might try the soft.

As for the whole deflection thing, it doesn't appear that the Kamui guys really know that much about deflection. If they are talking about Cue Ball Deflection, which is what most people would thing they are talking about when they say deflection, then they've got it wrong. Cue Ball deflection is a product of the difference in mass between the cue ball and the tip end of the cue shaft. Other than it's mass, the tip doesn't really play much of a role. This is really more marketing hype than anything else.

I agree with this, one step up in hardness would match the OB1 shaft a little better.

do you know the difference between the super soft and soft? like playing wise? im lookin for more cue ball control and english. and i cant decide which one of these i want to try and which one would fit me best
 
ob and kamui

Kamui Black SS and an OB shaft is my setup. It's a great combo. If you prefer a 'soft' hit then go with the SS tip. The 'S' is just a tad pingy for me. I used the regular OB shaft for quite awhile but recently switched to the OB Classic shafts. Both hit great.
 
I have used the SS on my OB1 and have to say it's great. On my other OB1 shaft I have a med. It needs replacing so I'm going to try a hard Black. You. won't be disappointed with the SS.

For me, it's all about the feel. When you find a tip that feels good to you, you will have the control and spin you are looking for. I would prefer the Soft before the Super Soft, but that's me.

I say give one a try. If you don't like it, you can then try a Soft.
 
I had an OB1 for a short time and had a Moori Soft on it. There is no such thing as too soft in my opinion and I loved the way that combo felt. The OB1 is a pretty soft feeling shaft, imo, so putting the Kamui Black SS (which is the only tip I'll ever play unless they come out with a SSS, lol) would probably have an amazing soft feel. Sadly, I can't play the OB1/Kamui Black SS combo as I LOVE deflection and will never own another low deflection shaft again.

Now, if there was a way for Royce and the guys at OB Cues to make a HIGH deflection shaft with the same soft feel as the OB1, I'd be all over it. *hint hint* :thumbup:

This is essentially the Kamui view as well. They offer the different hardnesses to match the variety in *feel of hit* desired by people. The point is not to get "more english" by using the softer tip. It is to get the *feel of hit* that you want. Some people like a firm crack (did I just say that?), whereas some like a more cushioned hit. This is what you base you selection on for hardness. If you want more spin, get the black. It supposedly has higher elasticity and "grips" the cueball more. My experience says that the Kamui black (soft in my case) does indeed spin the ball a bit more than my Moori medium (which would perform closer to the Kamui tan tip).

The point is, don't get the super soft because you are looking for more spin. Get it because you are looking for a soft feeling hit.

I use a Predator 314-2, which I think hits a bit firmer than the OB1 shaft. I LOVE the Kamui Black soft tip. I sincerely doubt you could go wrong with the soft or super soft. Best thing is to try it for yourself. Get the tip on the taller side and play with it that way for like a week. If you're 100% satisfied, great! If not, try trimming the tip down to about 1/2 height. I found that mine played much better at 1/2 height. Personal preference of course.

it is the best combo that I have used on my ob1. I play with a z2 with a black ss and the ob1 has a softer hit so I tried many other tips that were a bit harder and I couldnt get the hit/control that I had wanted...I put a ss on it and I love how it plays, I am probably going to put a normal S on it next time to see how it is but out of about 15 diffrent tips the kamui ss black is by far the best yet in every category. my 2cents.
