Dog Show > Pool?

They talked about the Westminster Dog Show on Sports Center last night?

When's the last time something pool related was even mentioned on SC?

Really think you'll get an objective answer on a pool forum?

Dogs give pool the last 3 and the breaks, in the real world...and pool gets hijacked every time.

Not arguing the popularity of the two. I'm arguing the fact that a dog show (not a sport), got a spot on a sports show.

To paraphrase Lewis Black, the problem with 24-hour sports channels is that it takes a month for there to be 24 hours worth of sports.

Westminster is considered the second longest running sports event in the US behind the Kentucky Derby....

The first, and as far as I know, only time sportcenter showed a pool shot was way back in the nineties when Earl two rail kicked the one which pocketed the nine.

He yelled "Look at this shot!" as the one was rolling. US OPEN against Varner somewhere in the early 90's.

Living with my third wife was a dog show, 24/7.
Anyway, I like dogs. The way they can stick their leg up in the air and lick their nuts? I wish I could do that.

Unconditional dog love: from their nuts to your face.

The last time pool was mentioned on Sportscenter was when Thorsten won all that dough on the IPT (in 2006 I believe). It made the Top 10 plays of the day segment.

I don't get the whole dog show thing anyway.

After all there are really only two kinds of dogs. German Shepherds and dogs that wish they were German Shepherds. :D

USA Network pre-empted their daytime schedule of Law & Order, NCIS, along with my other favorite shows to show the Westminster dog show. I hear that dog show has been selling out every year at Madison Square and tickets are in hot demand.

Pet owners spend lavish amounts of money on their pets. People here gripe about the price of bottled water. People here also boast, eh post bringing their own food to a bar, and then nurse a glass of soda all day to play free pool Sundays.

When pool is shown on TV, pay careful attention to the advertisers. That's telling of what sponsors think about pool players as customers.

Rumor has it that the 2 dogs that made it into the finals agreed to split the payouts before the final match.

There's tons of stuff that preempts pool on TV... and cable channels have been stepping outside their 'category' for decades. MTV cribs has nothing to do with music. Storage wars and Ax Men has nothing to do with History. You get the idea.

It's just the way things are. Nobody except a few hardcore fans cares about who wins the pool majors, especially when their prize fund keeps dropping and payment is spotty. More people want to see the pretty doggies than see shane run racks. Sucks but what can you do?

Heard about the Dog n Pool Contoversey ?

Yeah, I don't get it !

Here are pics from the hotseat match. AZ gets first shot, then I'm going to submit them to NYCGrind.:D
