I think it went something like this..

:( - At first he was sad

 - Then he was confused with no reply

 - After a while, he became angry

:outtahere: - A mob was formed

:boring2: - Seller was asleep at the wheel, though

:poke: - Somebody got seller's attention

:canoodle: - They kissed and made up

 - All is well is emoticon world once again

Don't quote me on it, but that's how I'll be telling it to my grandkids.

that was terrific:clapping:

I'm no hero Chris, I just tried to help out a friend like you..... I know it still sucks for you to try to sell these two cues to fund the Showman. She will be here waiting for you whenever you are ready..... the showman will be missed in my cue collection... but it's well worth it....
Regards
peter

Almost all correct except I disagree with scratches on the Gus. It seemed like a Mike Gartland tactic.

And I was not told the Barry had a wobble in the shaft even though it was disclosed to him by Mark the Cue Hunter and this old thread by Little Kenny:

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=238226&highlight=Barry

Don also agreed to send Gus back to me. That day he didn't have a problem. Then I woke to an email saying he was done.

Me too.

At the end of all of these type of threads a bunch of people chime in how great it is. I can assure all of them there are no winners here.

I started out trying to get my first Gus and ended up with this. It's all a learning experience. Money comes and goes. However, this taste will never leave my mouth.

Refinished by Barry???????

I guess some could say this situation is resolved, however it still remains that:

Chris has got to sell two cues in a down market, that he himself said he over payed for in the first place, probably won't get his money back on them.

He was told the cue was refinished by Barry, it wasn't!

Also he says he didn't send Gus back with scratches, which I believe
because the other guy wouldn't even call him back or get on here and
tell his side of the story.

He didn't tell Chris that the shaft on the Barry was warped, when he had been told that by at least two people, referenced in this thread.

He also agreed to send the Gus back to Chris and then reneged on that,
saying he was done.

Not to mention he left Chris hanging not returning any attempts to communicate, when he (Don) was the one in the wrong. It's called common courtesy.

And I almost left out the fact that when Chris choose two cues and cash,
the guy sends him two cues no cash.

There is defiantly a pattern here of untruths, reneging, misrepresenting,
and plain rudeness.

Chris is definitely the one who got screwed, and not only that but he got screwed more than once.

Chris was wronged in this situation, that's why he has come out of this saying he "has a taste that will never leave his mouth". This not to mention he (Don) didn't call him back or come on here and tell his side which speaks volumes.

What's right is right and what's wrong is wrong, and Chris is the one who was wronged here no matter how anyone tries to paint it.

He is still left holding the bag, having to try and sell two cues to hopefully get his money back, Good luck.

I don't have a dog in this fight, I know neither of them.
Have a nice day.

Troy,

The one thing I still do not understand is that IF I damaged the Gus as Don says, why wouldn't he send it back to me? The reason why I asked for it back was that Barry committed to the refinish. I also offered him $300 for all his shipping costs.

I never asked for anything free from Don. I offered to pay him at every stage.

If anybody feels that Don is right, offer to buy these cues at my offered price. Only then will everything be right.

Don should have taken the cues back at every junction. It is the right thing to do as a businessman. Cues are just my hobby, so I will live on. I have a wonderful life, a beautiful wife and two handsome little boys. I feel he has hurt his reputation by his actions and non-actions.

Peter - I feel you should keep the Showman. I thank you for the offer but I have decided to go in another direction.

I also said that to Don. He said he couldn't go back to Michael because so much time had gone by. Either way, I made a deal with Don not Michael.

I will assume he didn't notice the finish on the Delrin. It was not very well lit where we were.

I apologise for speaking for Don in this thread.
Don should tell is side of the story and not I.
Especially since I'm not sure my facts are 100% accurate.
Once the agreement was made the thread should have died.

Troy asked me to delete his quotes.

As far as I am concerned, there is no deal any longer.

Don should take back the Barry Szamboti & Bill Schick cues. And pay me my money.

OR send me the original Gus Szamboti back.

I would like to Escrow all cues involved with someone of Don's choice. My suggestion Jamie Wernsman.

More bad news to report.

Troy tried to call Don on my behalf and Don said he will not accept any terms of resolution. He said he is done with this deal.

So the final deal is that I keep a Barry Szamboti and Bill Schick hustler cue for $8,500.

Don gets to keep the rest of my money which includes $1,000 in cash and the money for one Barry Szamboti shaft that he promised to replace.

Any suggestions from the AZ Community?

I tried.
Good luck and I hope you guys can work it out soon.

Having gone through a similar painful experiance with a cuemaker that f'ed up one of my cues, lied, and then refused to make it right, I would say that you are the recipient of a bad deal.

You can continue as I did and try and get some resolution, but most likely this Don fellow will not budge. More than likely he does not have the cash to make it right, even if he wanted to.

You can continue to "bash" him on Az., which will undoubtedly affect his business, which will ultimately cause him more loss to his business than the money that he made on this transaction. There is some satisfaction in that, but it won't get your money back. Along the way, be prepared to respond to and listen to the Don "groupies" that think he is above repute.

Or you can "chaulk it up to a bad deal" and move on.

Either way, I sympathize with your loss. I suppose if you do enough deals on this website you eventually will encounter a bad transaction.

Good luck.

What a load of crap.

He screws you on two different cue deals, takes $1k of your cash ON TOP of that...then says he's "done?"

He's "done," alright. The list of trustworthy dealers just got smaller.

I hope he enjoys the profit he made on this set of 'deals' with you...because karma's a b!tch.

QUESTION: If you purchased a Gus Szamboti cue that was represented as having been refinished by Barry Szamboti from a stand-up cue dealer what
would you expect;

A.) To have a cue (a Gus Szamboti cue that was refinished by Barry)

OR

B.) Have all your money back (if things didn't work out right)

Those are the only two out comes there would be if you were dealing,

WITH A STAND UP GUY?

Now you can say that Don probably doesn't have the money, fair enough.

Nothing is stopping him from taking back the Barry Szamboti (with the warped shaft, which he knew about but failed to mention) and the Hercek.

Sending Chris the Gus Szamboti he bought in the first place, and
Don paying for the refinishing, WHY ?, because that's how he represented
the cue in the first place as having been refinished by Barry.

THAT's WHAT A STAND-UP GUY WOULD DO.

Anything less is, is not the right thing, and is not STAND-UP ANYTHING.
