Dress for pool success.......footwear?

I have a pair of elk hide moccasins, with customer orthotics that can not be eat for comfort.

Game must be pretty scarce if you are considering eating your elk hide slippers; don't go Donner on us.

Justin boots can't be beat for comfort, plus you can still get the ones made in the USA (if you care about things like that).

yes indeed

You may pay a bit more but I've yet to wear anything as comfortable as Ecco.

I think this makes 3 people who have mentioned ECCO's
Joey A. swears by the Mephistos , I have yet to try em out and if they trump
my ECCO's I will be looking into stock options .

new balance puts out some real comforatable footwear, my cousin works for a foot doctor and thats what they normally suggest. i haveboth sneaker, and walking shoe models and have had no complaints.

i'm waiting on kamui to put out a pair of shoes specifically for cue sports as well.

Those Clark's look pretty good. They're the early front runners.

I'd still like to see something a smidge more formal, just to see what else is out there.

They have more formal looking shoes in that model also http://www.clarksusa.com/eng/product/un_olaf/62163

What I love about mine is that the back of them is soft and cut in a bit, most shoes tend to bother my achilles because they are stiff and a bit sharp.

The Un Clarks have a very soft top and some models have a cut out in the back.

I'd like to add my voice to those who posted in favor of Rockports. They make dress shoes in addition to the out-and-out walking shoes, and you can play pool in them all day and night and still go to a business meeting afterwards without feeling the least bit out of place.

FTR, I think footwear is one of the most important sartorial choices one can make, whether on the table or real life.

Dressy shoes

I note you want shoes that are dressy. All brand mentioned are well made and generally comfortable. However Ecco, Clarks, Merrill etc are not dressy, (some Ecco can be but look very Euro) . Cole Haan with the Nike Air technology can be, however, good luck with the fit. BTW, Cole Haan is owned by Nike and they have been trying to sell the company for some time.

Rockports would be the best based on your desire for comfort and suitability for DRESS. They are very good shoes. So is a brand called Munroe, made in America, of H S Trask.

As for made in China, most shoes are today. I say most, as New Balance is still amade in USA. I started making shoes in the USA in 1970 and have made over 11 million pair PER YEAR SINCE 1985, ALL OVER THE WORLD.

Buy the Rockports.

Phil, may I ask what brand of shoes that you make?

Yes, I'm comfortable in cowboy boots, but I'm REALLY trying to find something comfortable and dressy. I've had several sets of Justin boots and they aren't comfortable to me at all. Heck, the most comfortable set of boots I've ever had are the ones I'm wearing right now (Twisted X). I had them in Tunica and it just didn't match the rest of my clothes and I felt self-conscious and out of place. Ok, I'm starting to sound like a wuss here. But, you get the idea.

I should also mention that I'd like as light of a shoe as possible, as my boots feel like they weigh 10 lbs. compared to some other footwear I've picked up.

I know there might be some differing opinions when it comes to comfort options when a shoe is very light, but there's just gotta be something out there that fits the bill. Honestly tho, anything is gonna be lighter than the boots I wear now, so that might be less of an issue. So, I need.....

1. Comfortable
2. Dressy
3. Somewhat light-weight
4. Rubber soles (to reduce slippage. Any arguments on this one?)

As for my budget, there's no way I'd ever pay $500 for a pair of shoes. BUT, if there were a ton of amazing reviews for a $200-300 pair, just the way I like them.....and if I ever had a chance to actually try them on to know for sure.....I could justify buying them. That would be my high end.

Considering that I'd only wear them for the nice events and maybe a few local ones (but definitely not all)......they'd probably last for umpteen years.

Thanks for all the responses, btw. Didn't realize that this thread would generate this much interest.

I wonder if my next thread on vests will generate this much traffic.

Yeah...I brought it up about Clarks shoes being made in China---
I'll tell my little story....

Clarks Shoes in Hanover is my back yard. I bought a pair of Clark's shoes to support my local business. Even the salesman said "oh yea, Clark's shoes are made right here in Hanover."

Then I went to Clark's shoes to apply for a job. I took a tour of the plant and asked where are the shoes made and the reply was China. I was under the impression that they were made right here in Hanover.

All the shoes come in on trucks in boxes marked made in China. But all the single boxes of shoes are taken out of those big boxes and then packaged in other boxes that don't say where they are made.

The shoes I bought doesn't say "made in China" anywhere. Just doesn't say where they were made.

Of course now a huge building is being built at Clark's shoes to house all of those made in China shoes...and I'm still without a job.

Yep..an as others have said,,Clarks too,,but I really like my casual Justin shoes too.

He posts under his real name so I am not giving anything not easily available; Phil is COO of Liz Claiborne shoes. I would say his position lends a lot of credibility to his footwear opinion.

Though I must say that I have been unable to find any new Munroe shoes for men.
