dust collection system for under 200

the 99 dollars 1hp 12 gallon one has 914 CFM that would probably work pretty nice for a small shop with one or 2 hoses comming off of it. this is in my budget so i might end up with this.

any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

I have one of those mini collectors on wheels. I haven't used it yet but will be finding out shortly. With the reducers, you can pull it around and hook it to your band saw, if it has a dust port, your jointer, sander. The less expensive one removes 914 CFM and down to 35 microns. My shop is only 12x10 so I don't want to spend the money on a large one yet and run duct for 3 machines.

That machine may work OK if only one machine is connected at at a time and it is fairly close to the machine and the dust bag is replaced. This bag is 35 micron. That is about like a screen door. If you use it you may not be able to be in the same room. A good bag is closer to 2.5 microns. advertising says it has 10 times the suction of a shop vac also. Don't believe it. a good shop vac has much more suction, just not as much volume.

I have a Delta one that looks like the HF 2 hp, and it does great in my 12x20 shop, which is jammed with stuff, but well worth it to breathe clean air.
I agree with Dick, 35 micron is like cheese cloth. If you change the bag to say, 1 or 5 micron, that would be great but I believe it will cut the cfm down dramaticly.
If you use the $100 it may work good if you can pipe it to blow outside, then you won't be breathing it in your shop.

i dont intend for it to stay in the bag it will be piped right threw the side of my barn and shot outside, if i didnt live in a smaller country town i would use the bag, annd since im only going to have it next to my lathe and bandsaw, i think it will work in my tiny shop for now.

If you are filtering and exhausting the air back into your shop, you need to read the following thoroughly:

I have tried many different cyclones and wasted my money on all of them but this one:

http://www.clearvuecyclones.com/

We use the CV Max, and have 4 filters on the output. It 4 machines, including a 4 blade saw machine, and is fed with 10" PVC pipe as the main, and 6" smooth bore flex hose for the drops. We fill a metal trash can several times a day, and not only does it get the big chips, but it effectively separates a tremendous amount of the small dust. This keeps the filters from plugging prematurely. My filters last about a year.
