Eagle Eye Takes Aim at 14.1 High Runs

He has a chance, perhaps the best chance of all the top 9 ballers, however it's a long shot. A week isn't all that long. I think, whomever really wants to beat the record needs to set aside some serious time to practise to get into the groove, before showing up.

I remember an earlier thread were people claimed that any top 9 baller could shatter the record at will. At least this will show them it's not quite so easy...
Agree completely. In order to just fire away without sufficient control of what you are doing, it would take some luck almost beyond possibility to run 500/600. On page 2 here I said probably 250 to 350 in his higher runs, just for this reason. These runs themselves are way beyond most who ever picked up a cue in history, a testament to the great ball pocketing ability, and maybe the table set up to a degree; I would be surprised to see even a 400 if Sunday is his final day at this.

I think some of the 9 ballers would need to spend several months concentrating on 14.1 to really get into the right mindset of how to control the cue ball and stay out of trouble so that this 14.1 aspect balances out their great shot making ability. Absent great awareness of that cue ball on EVERY shot, they are not going to just show up and run 600 balls unless Lady Luck is very generous one day- table set up aside. IMO

Are the players doing this challenge getting paid for the efforts? I know there is a pride factor, but who is sponsoring this great event?

Is he done or will there be more attempts?

It's a shame his 344 ended the way it did. Easy shot but jacked up and apparently hit it will a little unintended spin and threw the object ball away from the side pocket. Unforced error on one of the easier shot of the 344.

Preface: I understand the mental and physical cost of playing for extended periods of time trying to run balls, or just playing in general, and I know there are times and places to conserve both.

I’ve seen this happen so many times over the last few days:

In this example, stretching across the table, even with his giant fishing rod of a cue, takes no time to shoot the shot, has numerous ways to ensure a good outcome, and ends up like this:

And this was on 16 or 17 racks.

This is kind of what I was talking about earlier where I said he seems to be playing one ball at a time.

Compared to day 1, he seems to be moving the CB less, shooting shorter shots, shooting softer shots, and the end pattern is less movement. IMO.

On 168. The last few racks he's had several higher break shots, where the CB contacts either the first or second row of balls. Lets see if switches to preferring this location.
