Well deserved, Earl belongs in the HOF.

(Maybe Pete Rose is next.)

Congratulations to Earl Strickland! :)

Your stock just went up, especially with Cuetech! :D

I hope Allen Hopkins is put back on the ballot next year. He should have already been in, as should have Earl.

I still don't know why there is only one category this year, as opposed to two categories in the previous years. Is this new for the BCA Hall of Fame Committee, only voting ONE in, or has it happened in the past?

Not getting in the HOF last year cost Earl at least $24,000. And who knows how high he would have finished if he skipped the first two rounds like Efren did.

Earl deserves it. His antics only show up on the pool table. That's just the way he is. He's a pretty nice guy if you catch him undistracted. He earned his HOF induction.

I've never liked most of Earl's antics, but I'm certainly glad he made the HOF. It's about darn time.

How come they can only vote one per year? Why can't they do it like baseball's HOF, where you need a certain percentage of votes (75% for example) to get in? Is it to limit the amount of people entering the hall each year, such that they don't water-down the hall? Hopkins should have been inducted a while ago as well. Just wondering.

Great News! I'm very happy for Earl, he should have been in years ago.

I'm surprised about Daly though, in fact I have always assumed he WAS in the hall of fame. The guy was a biliards pioneer. Billiards enthusiasts carry around his book like its the bible.

At long last. It's a good day for the credibility of the BCA Hall of Fame. I'm very pleased for Earl, whose sustained competitive excellence makes him a key figure in our sport's history.

Daly is a golfer and the thread starter used :D as an eye catcher to this thread.... I'm thinking Nittifan was being facetious

I can't verify if Strickland was selected (I hope he was, at least until the next time I see him quit a match). Daly, the poolplayer, was the other candidate. I've quoted below an excellent writeup of TX Poolnut describing Daly:

TX Poolnut said:
Maurice Daly – Born in New York in 1849, Maurice Daly worked in billiard rooms as a youth and became the U.S. champion at American 4-Ball Billiards in 1873, world champion at Straight-Rail in 1875 and world champion at Cushion Caroms in 1883. He staged numerous tournaments at his two New York billiard rooms. In 1895, he led a successful protest against an oppressive billiard room regulation and was elected president of the Billiard Room Owners' Association. Mr. Daly was the billiard columnist for the New York Herald, which printed his shot diagrams that became the basis for Daly's Billiard Book, a best seller that was published in 1913 and is still in print today. He was a tournament promoter, referee and the instructor of many billiard champions, including Willie Hoppe and Welker Cochran. Mr. Daly died in New York in 1932 at age 83, having devoted his entire life to playing, teaching and promoting billiards.

I have to say for pure playing ability and what he has acheived I was shocked to discover he wasn't in years ago.
