Earl is being Earl right now vs. Hatch

Way to go Earl!!! I know guys that have told me they go a little past the head string to avoid putting the cue ball in the divot that everyone else is breaking from.

Go Earl.

On the 'head string' discussion. If I am playing someone and they contest that my cue ball is too far forward - I will just move it back 1/8" (which is usually all it takes) to be behind the head string (and not on the head string).

That little bit (1/8") is not going to make any difference.

I personally think that is just being courteous.

I don't put this in the category of 'Earl's antics' - I think he is correct. The cue ball should be 'Obviously' behind the string. (jmho)

Since you agree, that an 1/8" doesn't make a difference, it would have to be sharking. It's a situation where if there even were a violation, it would be so infinitesimal, as to not matter. That only leaves the possibility of Earl wanting to get in his head. The sad part, is that Earl doesn't need to do it, to win.
Just another way to view it. No offense or disrespect intended.

I know people who put the cue ball just a bit before the headstring and it bothers me for some small reason. Maybe Dennis knows this bothers Earl and maybe he uses it to shark Earl! :p Who knows, right? :p

According to Jerry Forsyth, it also can be on the line. So, the question is: how thick is the "line"?

I'd really like to see Earl snap this off. I'd imagine that if his break comes to life he will enter

Samiel next time we play I'm going to put the cue ball past the head string to shark you so maybe once in my life I can get enough of an edge to beat you lol. Just kidding but how have you been? I havent seen you around in a while.

I've never really taken notice of where someone is breaking from. So long as they seem near the line I don't bother taking a second look. Then again I am not nearly as picky as Earl on how the game is played.

So long as you don't put the chalk upside down on the table I am fine. I have noticed that I am getting worse though.

Well said. Strickland's antics and sharking get worse the stronger his opponent is playing. Nice to see the ref Schuman at the table for the match to try to control him.

Been good Mike! How are things with you? When I get out these days, it's mostly to Volcano's since it's somewhat close to me.

I think it's good practice to notice where your opponent is putting the cueball and how hard they are hitting the rack and where. If they are breaking well, it might help you out!

I'm not saying Earl doesn't shark, but Hatch is one of the biggest sharks out of the pros. Johnnyt

LOL..that 1/8" could be the difference on weather a ball hangs on the rim or not.

Earl

With Earl you get your money's worth.....every red cent. I would hate to play against him or his routines, but entertaining to say the least.

Has he every been seriously reprimanded in a tournament for sharking... I mean before just quitting and storming off?
