Earl Strickland vs Keith McCready

wow

This is great! Pool before Simonis and no Earl antics. Don't get me wrong. I love Simonis. I just like to watch how these two have to sometimes muscle the rock to get around the table. Bring back the old Earl!!! Keith and the trucker hat is an absolute classic.

Wow

Earl and Keith as champions....

I thank you for posting.

I could watch these guys play like that forever. Keith shot a little stronger, Earl jumping was amazing with a full cue. Earls break made the difference.

WOW

Thanks again,

Ken

Yup, it's a Meucci. Sounds funny but I grew up playing on slower cloth like that, and I get in dead stroke FAST, on slow cloth. I think it helps my stroke to be able to slug the ball. On real slick Simonis I just try to go an extra rail to get the same effect.

Great find on the videos Fleece3. Thank you for posting them. Not to many safes from those two back then. Johnnyt

cant remember who said it in commentary once but i think it was jim wych.

"most people's bridge gets shorter as they get older, earl's has gotten longer"

The things I noticed most was.

Keith only really jumped up after his cue delivered ball. Now it seems to be during stroke.

Keith as always even against Earl is fearless and banks to stiff the ball.

Earl shoots clean balls into center of pocket. Keith having less cue power uses all the pockets and spin to achieve shape.

No wonder Earl wants any gimmick cues. The man jumps with a full length playing cue like god!

That was wonderful. Many thanks.

I Like The OLD Earl, Better.... imo

Well sure, Earl won. That match was so long ago that they hadn't even invented bottled beer yet..... apparently.
Doug
( I watched it twice and I was pulling for Keith BOTH times..... dammit )

I wonder if Earl (or any of the older players for that matter) that are having problems now look at old tapes of themselves to see what they are doing different? I know the eyes go, and other parts of the body don't work as good as they once did, but when I look at a lot of the players from about 1975 to 1990 they almost all shoot a lot differently.Johnnyt

1975 to 2008..... Only 32 Years

BRILLIANT !!!!

I like how they concede games to save time, just like we all do in the pool halls and just like they still do in pro snooker

nowadays players force guys like Earl and Efren to run out a 3 ball road map or shoot ball in hand combos with the nine hanging in the pocket

The Euros and Taiwanese are the worst for that
