Earl Stricklands old friend Brad???

I rememeber Brad from the old poolroom in Greensboro called Bakers... He lived in the RV outside of it...
He passed away about 10 years ago with throat cancer....
What i was wanting to know is if anyone remember how well this guy played??

I remember earl used to come by and pick him up in his Jaguar from time to time... It was funny to see because Brad was so big Earl had to drop the top so Brad could fit... lol!
 
Wow, I remember Baker's in Greensboro. They used to boast the best hot dogs in North Carolina. They were kind of tasty too! :p


I never met Brad, but I'd love to hear some stories of Baker's, Brad, Earl, and North Carolina pool! :)

Do you ever remember seeing an RV parked just outside the door? That was Brads home and he was set-up for cue work also.... There was plenty of action in that little poolroom at one time... I have seen all the champions and hustlers play there at one time.... It was a happenin place...:smile:

his name was brad faxton or bad brad
he played real well i remember him running over many player in akron
at starchers billirds in the late 80's
he was a great player
 
I remember him....when Baker's closed, he went to Breaktime and had a shop in the back.

Yep...the black Jag.
 
I grew up with Brad Motco. He and I were road partners for most of my 20's and 30's. He player real good. He and I were real close close for the money.
He died of throat cancer. He was into cue repair. He got me into cue repair also. He was a very nice person but when it called for it he was deadly. He was a martial arts champion. I miss him.

I didn't know he was a martial arts champion?? I remember him and butch was somewhat partners workin on tables and things like that at Breaktime... I remember his cue that he made that was like 60+ long...
Of course Brad was a big fella so it fit him just right:D
Brad also told me of a time he was in Texas and won a big tourney there...Anyone know that story??
 
I grew up in Cleveland with Brad, Mike G. (Babyface), Mark Maryo & J.R. who I always call Junior. I ran a poolroom on Kamms Korner in the 70's & Brad & Fat Timmy were always around. Brad was a real solid player & always fun to be around. I remember JR & Brad went thru Oregon & did very well. I lived in Greensboro from 80 to app. 86 & my best friend owned the playroom & my girl at the time Lori, worked for him. I don't remember Brad being around in these years but many roadplayers came thru on a regular basis. Johnny Ross stayed around for awhile & he's one of the funniest people on the planet. I knew him back in the early 70's when I lived in Atlanta. Lot of people don't know Johhny had a brother Joe who played jam up in those days. Ramble on.

BUTCH...you do know he's gone too, don't you? Heart attack 5-6 yrs ago. I made the mistake of playing him, and he shot me full of air on the last set. Never did get paid....

I didn't know he passed...He was always trying to help me with my pool game....He might have shot you an air barrel but underneath he was a good guy too...

he was....he was just broke.

he lived it up before he went...his nephew was in a big rock band (Dave Matthews, I think?) and Butch moved in with him.
 
I played Bad Brad in 90? Very solid. He used to come to Raleigh for the big tourneys. He staked Stevie Moore against a buddy of mine around '91. Scott shot Stevie down at $10 a game. Now, Scott might not win with the seven and the break. Oh, the good ol' days.
