Hey all, just wanted to give you a treat. I have had this in my archives for a long time, but it has been on private view only for quite a while. I've set it to Unlisted temporarily so you can all enjoy the awesomeness of this match:

This is quite possibly one of the best matches I own in my library of pool videos. From the 1991 McDermott Masters Tournament, Earl "The Pearl" Strickland against Ismael "Morro" Paez in a race to 11. This match is all-out offense, and both players exhibiting some of the greatest pool you will see. From jump shots to kicks, banks, kisses and combos, this match has everything, and only lacks in safety play, which neither is characterized for. The accu-stats are not displayed in the match, but both play above .900s. Enjoy!

Thanks

WOW. Been looking for this match for a long time. It truly is an offensive show. The interview at the end shows Earl's gracious side too.

Hi Mate,

Thanks a lot! Been watching 3parts this morning (I´m probably 6h ahead of you/Sweden) and I do enjoy it, both the nice and "fun" play - they both giving it full throttle trying to find a solution.
And what present both of them have when they shoot, both just jumps up and claims the table when it´s their turn. I must say Paez is fun to see. Maybe a bit unorthodox when he shoots but see how determined he hits those ball, no babying there:smile:. The balls doesn´t know if it looked good but they know when they end up in the pocket, that´s were they belong:-).

It´s easy to celebrate the players that looks to have the perfect fundamentals, fluid action etc but to see Keith M, Paez and similar players gives you a lot. Notice when they hit the ball, - perfect, they have strokes that maybe isn´t to be teached (well I´m getting teached redlighted because of spelling, I don´t know what is the right word but like I say about the strokes - If you want to understand it will all be clear to you;-)) but how they hit the ball, their present, their trust in their ability, there you have something:smile:. Well, at least for me;).

I havn´t seen all of it yet, saving some nice things for the evening, now I´m off to see some old heros (and new) of ours here in Sweden battling it out in "pro" competition (Swedish best players, probably some foreigners to but mainly Swedish people).
Btw here´s a link to the stream, hope it will work for you:

Take care and play your best

Amazing match. Top 10 for sure. Also, I've never heard Billy be more agreable with a co-host than during this match. His ego must have only been medium sized 20 years ago... ;) Earl also managed to keep foot out of mouth during his post-match interview. Boy, how times change...

Great match and the commentary doesn't get any better. Thanks for the link and thank you to Accu-stats for all the great matches they taped through the years.

Morro pushes out 3 times... Earl says "shoot" 3 times.... Morro runs out 3 times..... Buddy says "He's a tough lil Mexican" That's friggin histerical!!!

Great match. I like the interview at the end, earl seems like a completely different person. Complementing his opponent, not being so arrogant etc. maybe that was earls key to good fortune. Nice upload

tap tap tap....

Billy in the booth and Earl on the table. Tough to top that!!!

Great match

Wow, that was a great match. Really enjoyed watching it.
2 heavy weights throwing some serious leather around.
Thanks for the post.

Yes, thanks for the link. I watched that match a few years ago, great to see it again.

Is that Robin Dodson playing on the far table?

complete enjoyment from start to finish.

and yeah, I guess you don't wanna give the pushouts back to Morro. Wow! and making it more incredible is how he does it with his 'jack-in-the-box' style.

billy and buddy we're terrific. love buddy'd mishievous laugh down the home stretch of this match. It's a lot of fun when the level of play is so high by both players that the announcers can barely contain themselves.

thank you for posting this.

best,
brian kc

Sorry guys, I had to delete the videos. Pat Fleming at Accu-Stats asked me to remove them entirely or face copyright infringement. I respect him and Accu-Stats, and removed my entire library of videos, although I feel having a few matches online helps the company, not hurt it, since those who enjoy the videos will likely want more and therefore make a purchase of their own. In my descriptions of the videos, I encouraged viewers to visit their site and buy some pool action. Sorry if you didn't get to see them, or if you were interrupted mid-match.
