I hate to see Bartrum lose, but how sweet is it that Earl gets a shot at Putnam after the way Putnam dissed him while he was beating Archer?!?
Wonder how old Shawn is feeling about the Pearl right now?(and the Mosconi Cup!)
EEEEAAAAARRRRRRLLLLLL!!!!!!!!
Putnam wins! I guess Earl still has a shot on the 1 loss side but I am sure it has hasn't made the Earl fans happy. I'm sure they wanted to rub Putnams face in it a little.
This is off topic: Who did Earl beat in finals of the 1984 US Open? I can't find the answer anywhere..
I'm glad you asked because I spent a long time looking for the answer last night. When someone commented about is this the Earl of 84? I thought maybe it was regarding how fast and furious Earl beat Mills. Well I have a dvd of Earl absolutely destroying Reyes in the Us Open final and it is a Very old dvd. If I had to guess, this was what the poster was talking about.
The table was about 5 or 6 steps away from where the players sat and Earl would power walk up to the table and run out with speed and power and authority. After the first game which he ran out the crowd could feel the energy and and gave Earl a lot of applause and he actually put his hand in the air to accept and absorb the crowd's reaction. He intimidated Efren soooo bad in this match that Reyes would flounder the few times he got to the table. It was a massacre. I need to watch it again to confirm if it was the 84 open final or not. Maybe I will film the first and last game and put it up on youtube. The quality would really suck though.

Putnam unfortunately just beat Earl. I was hoping to see Earl play Shane in th next round. Oh well!
Shane lost his match as well. If they both win their next match they will lock horns.

You got me Donny. I am nostalgic. If you and Earl match up on TAR then put me down for another $1000 on the side betting on Earl.
Sorry but at least when it comes to Earl you couldn't have given him any weight and beaten him if he was playing good. I don't think you can give any weight now.
If I was rich I'd bet you $100,000 that if you and Earl played a full year's worth of the same tournaments that Earl's ranking would be higher than yours and his finishes would be higher than yours.
Yes, you got third a couple years ago. Yes, you play world class pool. But in the 35 times the US Open has been played there have been MANY players who won it and then never really amounted to much after that as far as records go. But here you have a man who won this event FIVE times. I understand that as a pro you have to feel that you can win against anyone.
But this guy has earned his street cred in the most convincing way possible. He has the hardware to prove it.
You have a long way to go to even consider filling Earl's shoes. You should have just congratulated him on a well played match.
In any event you got me. I hate Earl's antics but I will never dismiss his game.
I'm sorry Donnie but I've watched you play a lot on tv and you miss way too many balls to beat Earl. Your gimmick game ryo and soft break is freakin ridiculous.. what would be really funny if you played Earl like 92-93.. You would probably need the 7.. Back to the old guard, I can't really tell you about harold worst, lassiter and those guys but the sigels, halls, archers, and of course strickland out plays you dude- prime for prime. Hell, Archer and Strickland still out play you. I hate to be a disrepecful nit but it seems your always on tilt about playing with someone but theres always some excuse.
