I apologize if this has been posted before, but am I missing something? How will the 2007 members earn $100,000 when last place is $2,000 in 7 of the tournaments and $3,000 in the other?

They are going to get a personal check from KT. They will give that check to Mark Trainor and he will give it back to KT.

Heh, Heh, Heh

Voodoo Economics my man, Voodoo Economics!!!!!!:D
Kt is trying to prove that you can polish a turd!!!
JMHO I have that freedom here in the good ol US of A.

IIRC, KT said that tour players in 2007 would likely earn a good bit of cash for appearance fees and the like, on top of whatever event winnings they pull in. He's counting THAT toward the $100k. And he also said that if players didn't pull down $100k total for the year, he'd make up the difference himself.

Now, I doubt that's in any contract (I've no idea as I've not SEEN the relevant documents, so don't go flamin' me), so I guess we'll see how things shake out come 12/31/2007.

How 'bout thru sponsorship, tv revenues, branded products and profit-sharing. That's what been said from the beginning. I know you negative guys will always be negative until it slaps you in the face and you think of the worst scenarios possible. What a way to lead your life. Guess that's why you aren't good enough to play in the IPT - too many excuses for life and the game. Talk to me only if you've done something substantial with your life. If you've made millions and if you care about the game, just step right up and do it your way. Sigel and Trainer - probably is business. KT and Trainer - very doubtful

The top ten, or so, players will do just fine. some will exceed the $100,000.00. But for the vast majority remaining, it's near impossible. Especially those that signed 40-50% of their winnings to MT. When you punch in the qualifying and traveling expenses they have to win almost $200,000.00 from the IPT tour to net the said $100,000.00. Based on the numbers, the plan simply doesn't work.

Sorry you don't like my humble opinion my friend, however, I will tell you that I made my first million before I was 25. I live and lead a wonderful life. I am 57 now and know you cannot polish a turd. I think you will be the one eating humble pie. How much would you like to bet on that? JMHO and I am allowed to express it. If you don't like it, go live in China where you can't express it.

There are just three problems with this sentence.

There won't be any qualifying expenses for tour card holders unless you are talking about the players who don't finish in the top 100 and have to go to the year end tournament to qualify for a card for the following year.

Secondly, I don't believe that KT said that the players would net $100,000 but that they would earn $100,000. That is a big difference.

Thirdly, it is total earnings from the IPT and not just tournament winnings which would comprise the $100,000.

I'm not saying they are going to get the money KT promised but at least let's try to get the facts right.

I am, in fact, including ALL possible scenarios.

Secondly, I don't believe that KT said that the players would net $100,000 but that they would earn $100,000. That is a big difference. I don't know exactly what KT said, but I did say NET because that is the number that matters most. What good is it being on a tour where you have no NET earnings?

Thirdly, it is total earnings from the IPT and not just tournament winnings which would comprise the $100,000 Presently, and until the profit sharing checks are mailed out, my statement stands

I'm not saying they are going to get the money KT promised but at least let's try to get the facts right.
No argument, I understand what you're saying. Just clearing up what I'm saying.

I was really joking. Little tired of all th crazy crap the last day or two.
Since you brought it up thoough, I'll say what I dam well please and what I have accomplished or not, is none of your business.
I don't know who is sleeping with what around the IPT and could care less. I just hope it works out.

Thanx ironman for clearing that up. I appreciate it. As you can tell I am a die-hard IPT fan. I wish I was 30 years younger. When I played there was NO chance of making a living shooting the game. I was a decent shortstop but I couldn't commit to a life on the road or kicking around playing where you had to place in the top 3 to have a maybe existence. Whether people like it or not, the IPT is the best thing that has happened for the game, players and audience. I'll gladly eat my words if things go wrong, but until then, I'll support and be optimistic about the IPT. BTW, when tennis and golf organized into international organizations, they too had many growing pains and naysayers. Look at them now. That is my hope for the IPT and maybe I'll see it before I can't hobble to the table anymore.

I am very excited for the 2007 year. It will truly be 150 of the toughest players in the world. My crystal ball predicts that the open entry qualifiers might be a little easier but getting by the first round in the tournaments will be a feat.

I would venture to guess that when you were working on that first million you did things your way and were successful. You may have taken advice/help from some people you valued but in the end it all fell on your shoulders. So how come you seem to have trouble letting KT do things his way? It is his show and until a day comes when he does not meet payroll it will continue to be his show.

He has held quite a few tournaments so far and each and every one of them have been successful.

Just think how successful he and the IPT would have been if all the players were behind him.

Why do you think that? I would have said it there is a high possibility.

Questions are now being asked and for the sake of the integrity of the IPT, KT should make a statement on this whole issue. Surely, after all the discussion about KTs backround, he would want to avoid any controversy?
In a top-heavy payout tourny like the next Reno champs, the top 36 players take [ +/-] 70% of the prizemoney. If KT has a financial interest in certain players it would look very bad.
JMO of course.

30 years ago? I wish it were just 15 years ago. What is important is that it has happened and many of the "blackeyes" this game has endured will go away or heal.
Are there problems? Of course there are. That is the bad news, the good news is that there are solutions and they will be implemented in time. That is just the nature of any business.
The eternal optomists are not always right just as the naysayers are not always wrong. Hopefully the IPT has the wisdom to listen to both and make wise decisions while rebuilding the integrity of the game. Then maybe this game and it's participants will take on a whole new image.

I don't understand this at all. The players are more behind KT than anyone in history. They are following him down the yellow brick road and he probably has less understanding about the game than anyone in history. How much more faith can they exhibit.
The players are not the ones complaining.

Lol

Jake,

LMAO.
A tourny requires more than 2 players so that cuts it down to 2! Thats not a few thats a couple.
each and every one of them
You mean BOTH of them! LOL

I think he's referring to all the qualifiers as well. All told there's been about fifty of those.

Of course the players on the tour and the ones trying to get on the tour are with him. I was referring to the general population of pool players out there who could care less about the IPT.

But that is what makes the world go round.

Can't please everyone.
