ebay fraud

What Placidcue Did Was The Best Way To Protect Everyone, Not Just Az Readers. Just Place A Shill Bid To Run The Price Way Up(so No One Else Bids). If Someone Is Willing To Bid 3000 For That Cue(no Knock Against The Cue, I Think It's Very Nice) They Deserve To Be Ripped Off. I Was Going To Do The Same Thing Later, But Placid Beat Me To It.

The thief seller could still get wise to you guys and cancel all the inflated bids at the last minute. The price would drop to the highest legitimate bidder, but it would still be free money for this idiot.

Make sure someone drops a last minute bid for a substantial amount so he doesn't have time to cancel it.

Also he has the option of selling to the next highest bidder if he doesn't receive payment, so that's another way his scam could work in the end.

Ebay is so slow to respond - at least 3 of us have reported it. I'll e-mail everyone who had a bid on it when the auctions over.

The auction looks legit otherwise.

Maybe Zeeder is just pulling our legs? ;) Oh well, Jeff really likes that cue anyway.

i figure that's the best way to make sure no one gets taken.
i bid 11k
zack might even take that :D

Jeff, you're right, I'd probably let it go for $11k...lol.

Thanks to everyone for your assistance in this matter and a BIG thank you to RoyL who brought this auction to my attention!!

I wonder if it's possible to get the auction transfered over to my account...lol.

This is hilarious. I just now read the auction and the reason why it looks so legit is because the person is even using my words...lol. Whoever stole the pictures also stole my wording from the cueauctions.com auction where I posted the cue for sale a while back.

I started reading the auction and I was thinking, damn, this guy knows a lot about my cue...lol. I then remembered that I had posted the cue a while back on cueauctions when money was tight. I sure am glad it didn't sell...lol.

Did you notice that there was "no shipping insurance available".

I'm sure no tracking number available either. I talked to e-bay live help but they just referred me to the e-mail address to report a fraud.

Well it just ended, mercifully.. My hats off to the AZ bidders and honest citizens of this forum for doing what E-Bay refused to do. By bidding it up HOPEFULLY the 'seller' will not be able to defraud any of the bidders that were unaware of what was going on. E-Bay is truly too big and has a virtual monopoly on internet auctions. Shows what happens when you have NO competition..

I hope ebay tries to collect their % based upon final sale price $6,099... That would be a nice chunk of change outta this scammers pocket... I wonder if he thinks he pulled the scam of a lifetime at this point???

I personally emailed each of the bidders letting them know that the auction was a fraud and that my cue is not actually for sale!

wouldnt be out of the scammers pocket.....it would be out of the ID's account that he stole.
Well, I am sure that with the combination of all the emails that were sent to ebay prior and the email that the hijacked seller will no doubt send when he gets his bill this will get straightened out...

I just got my second chance offer.

It is exactly because of this type of fraudulent activity that I believe that a cue registry would be a good idea. It could provide some sort of data base as to rightful ownership. This could be valuable to law enforcement in theft cases, as well as to legitimize those cues being sold in a setting such as eBAY.
