Ebay--What a hassle...

After all that, my Mezz cue was purchased by someone in Europe where I do not sell. Now I have to go through the hassle of canceling the purchase and deciding whether or not to offer it as a second chance offer or just relist it, etc.

Also, Ebay says that if the guy states that he still wants the cue, that they may not refund my Final Value Fees, even though I clearly stated in the listing that I would only ship to USA and Canada. I know...they just want their money.

At any rate, I may be placing this Mezz cue back up here for sale, if anyone is interested in it. It is a really nice cue...send me an offer.

I was gonna put a bid in on it before I noticed you don't ship overseas.;)

Brian,
I will ship to AZB members with references or to someone that I have done business with before, but they need to contact me ahead of time to make certain that it is OK. There are just too many phoney Ebayers right now. If you are interested in the cue, PM me an offer.

Why do you have to pay the fees, it dosen't seem right, what is their reasoning for charging you, when your policy clearly wasn't followed. Does eBay need the money that bad? Selling on eBay is tough, they get the seller coming & going

I can vouch for Brian......

Bama!!! I just went through this for a cue I sold on fleabay a short while ago. I had a bidder from taiwan win, even though it was stated I wouldn't ship oversees. Just file for a credit, and ebay will send him a message and as long as he agrees to NOT mutually follow through, you will get a credit. I used the second chance offer to offer to the second highest bidder and he accepted. Anyhow, why not ship to him if he agrees to the higher cost for shipping? Anyhow good luck.

shipping out of usa.

its a royal pain in the butt. all kinds of forms. and then the fees at the other country. then if they suspect something fishy, or if dealing in cues, the use of ivory. they can hold the cue. never worth the hassle.

just my opinion.

also alot of scam ebayers come from outside the usa. never ever take a money order outside the usa. horror stories upon horror stories regarding them. you deposit it. the bank takes it. 2 weeks later its a fraud and then they take the money plus fees from your account.

some facts i have read about.

As a buyer who lives outside of the USA, I would have to disagree with you. Other than filling out a shipping label and a simple customs form (item + value), it's not a big deal at all. As far as customs fees (which in my case are $12-$25 per cue) and regulations go, that is the responsibility of the buyer (as is the extra shipping $), not the seller (i.e. I wouldn't order something that contained ivory as- in the unlikely event it got tagged- it could present a problem and I'd most likely never get it).

As far as money orders go, it's true that money orders are a hassle- PayPal and Western Union- while not fool-proof- are good options to use with an international buyer.

I've purchased several cues + an OB-1 shaft in the past month or so, and I would have been pretty bummed if the guys I bought them from shut me out due to my location (though my wife would have been pleased as she doesn't understand why I need all this stuff- women:p )- give us guys overseas a fair chance.;)

Amen to you.

i agree too on not letting europe out.

ive traded many ceu's, and even traded pre ban ivory poolball's, and never had any problem.

usualy i ask the seller to:
- insure the cue
- mark it as a gift

if there are extra shipping costs or administration costs, its me who has to pay them. The guy who delivers it at my dore, hands me over the papers, i pay (usually around 12$) and thats it.

the reason why your buyer is from europe is because mezz, joss, longini, meuci, etc are very popular cue's and if u compare american prices with the european prices, we almost pay double over here.

Next Time Just Block "Outside of US"

eBay allows you to set your Seller preferences so you block bids from anyone in an area you don't want to accept bids or payments from or ship to. Just log into your account, find your Seller Preferences and from there its pretty easy. Please let me know if I can be of assistance.

Thanks, Troy- I'm not implying that Joe had any misgivings about dealing with me at all- he was totally cool and gave me a great deal that I'm very happy with- my response had to do with someone else saying that dealing with people who lived out of the US was too much of a hassle- can't have that as there's still a lot of stuff I wanna buy from "For Sale" forum on AZ.;)
