Eddie Robin's Position Play Book Video Project.

Recently I have been studying Eddie Robin's book on 3 cushion position play. Within the near future I would like to bring this book to video. I would like to get Eddie's permission before I proceed, however I have no idea if he is still around or how to contact him. I have no intention of profiting from the project. I am treating it as a promotional project to help generate more interest in the game.
 
I have his contact and yes he is alive and well in Las Vegas.....

not sure if Eddie would approve but I'll talk to Eddie this weekend and get you in contact with him.

Maybe see where it goes.

For those that don't know Eddie has about 9 or more books that he's been working on over the years...

The 3cushion book I let you borrow is only the 1st of 3.....the 1st has 500 shots and is the intermediate book....the 2nd is advanced and another 500 shots and the 3rd has a final 500....if all 3 books are ever printed it would be a 1500 shot repertoire.

The Position Play in 3cushion Billiards is actually the rarest of the 3 books Eddie had published. I believe a good 1/3 or half were lost on a trip to South America a long time ago.

Lol.......well i didn't get that bit of info off the internet thats for sure.....just regurgitating what Eddie has told me in the many conversations we have had.

That reminds me its been awhile....I gotta ring him up and say hello.

It gets hard keeping up with everyone....I feel bad at times when i don't say hello to my friends often enough.

Speaking of which I hope your doing well Dave....were you planning on coming check out the White Diamonds event? Its a hell of a lot of fun.

Eddie has told me that his lessons have been used by others for profit more than once. (without his permission) Though it would be great to have some of his lessons on video, I doubt seriously that he will allow someone else to reproduce his teachings. He is protective of the information, not out of greed for profit, but because his standards are high.

That would be a great thing to do one of these days, when my shoulder heals and work permits. I had shoulder surgery 9/22 for "frozen shoulder" & removal of a bone spur. No playing for me for a few more weeks than we'll see what happens.

I would be willing to get his approval about how I go about filming it. I plan on using a Canon 5d mark 2 to film and a heated Gabriels table to shoot the shots. I will respect any decision he makes about it, but I would hate to see all that knowledge to go unseen.

He actually printed out the first of the 500 shot books? I only thought his first three were printed and everything else was only on his computer.

I gave up years ago on the idea he would actually put anything else out for sale...I have all three of his books but have always seen the one pocket books sell for more than the position play book.

Yes thats right the two one pocket books and the one 3 cushion book are all thats printed.

The 1st 3 cushion book is the intermediate book @ 500 shots. If you own all three books form eddie then you have the 1st 3cush book w/500shots.

No other books are available at this time.

The other books need pics and diagrams and stuff like that but from what I got from Eddie most of them were near completion......but as we all know it takes money to do that.

The above poster talking about people stealing the info for profit is 100% true and the main reason Eddie probably wont go for this.....and hell I/we can't blame the man.

We were very close to closing a deal that would have gotten some more books out.....but when the oil field dropped out when Obama got elected kind of put a bullet in the head of that idea.

I was gonna invest with Eddie and buy a Porche lmfao......i settled for a Turbo Pasatt instead lol.

So if anyone wants to be pissed for not having more books blame Obama lol....

GreyGhost; Don't forget, I have a book and DVD on position play, "The Concise Book of Posotion Play". I'll have my 2nd Edition books and DVD's coming out in about 4 weeks, taking orders NOW, before the Holidays!

Well Keeb if he doesn't go for it then I understand. If I did the videos I would really highlight the fact that the content is his work. I would try to make the videos a tribute to his legacy. I really want to do something for a game that is fading, his work is the best thing I can come up with at the moment.

If Eddie approves. Why not ask some of our Former nationals winners to participate? LIke get Ashby to do a fewe shots and Pedro, etc. Thanks for the great idea!

I would be willing to include as much collaboration in this project as I could generate. It would sure make it easier to film all of the shots. LOL. :D I can guarantee a 10 foot gabriels with heated slate bead for as long as we would need it. I can also assure a Cannon 5D Mark II even if I have to rent it. My home computer has Premiere CS 5 with a Blue Yetti Microphone. We can make this a top drawer production. I just want to expose the game. :cool:
 
If Eddie agrees to this maybe the filming of these shots could be made in to an event. I would love to get some forum members and good players together in one place. If the date was planned far enough in advance I might even try to drum up some sponsorship. With the popularity of carom in Houston being what it is in the Asian community I might be able to attract a sponsor.
 
I know a source who got 12 of Eddie Robin's 3C Book still in the Clear Plastic wrap! Don't know if he ready to sell or not, and at what price!!!! I'm not the source.

But Mr3Cushion's Book is the Next Collectable American Author Book.
