Edwin was considered the number one cue maker in the Philippines before he was killed about five years ago. I'd like to get my hands on one of his cues!

I had and played with one of the new Reyes guys cues. For the money you will be impressed. They are made well and have a nice hit also.

Yea they looked well made and that's what caught my eye guess ill try one out thanks

I have one that I bought brand new around 8 months ago, and the but warped after a couple months. Looks good though, and hits ok.

JD cues are good but in all honesty they are hit and miss.
I found that his finish work is so-so depending on what wood he's
using, cause certain woods except finish better than others.
I've had a few of his shafts bow like a banana after they were retapered.
I think he uses nelsonite as a sealant on his shafts to prevent warping,
so once its off, who knows whats going to happen.
They play well and at one time very cost effective but now I see his
cues going for 5-600 dollars which imo is to much for what your getting.
I've had a handful and only one stayed problem free.
Its all about seasoned and properly cured wood. Edwins name has
always been in a good light as far as playability but for anything else
you'll have to weigh out if its worth the risk.Goodluck

Edwin Reyes cues

Edwin Reyes, assassinated, made outstanding cues cutting and fitting inlays by hand. He had two stocks of wood, the wood that would stay in the Philippines and the wood going to the US or Europe. The export wood was dried to a greater degree and kept in climate control to prevent warpage from the major changes in climate. At least this is what Edwin himself said and I have no reason to doubt his word. If some of the wood deliberately dried to conditions in the islands was shipped overseas it would be much more likely to warp.

Edwin was a master craftsman that could do things with his hands that very few cue builders today can. If I get a chance I will own one of his cues. While I have some interest in a few other builders Edwin is the only one that I truly want a cue from.

A good person, someone I considered a friend although we had only talked on the net. RIP Edwin, hopefully his assassin and the people that paid him will serve their time in hell, it seems there will be no justice on earth.

Thanks on the reply guys guess ill just pick one up

I don't think you can 'just pick one up'.

The Edwin Reyes cues that are so well regarded were kinda tought to get ahold of when he was alive. Post murder, I can't think gettin one has become easier.
