Efren paid by the IPT last Friday for W.O.

The "coverage" in the Philippines over at RPN9 will only show 4 matches, all featuring Efren -- one match in the round robin stage (to be shown monday), another in the quarterfinals (tuesday), another in the semis (thurs), and finally the Finals with Rodney(friday).

If you don't like the info to use to your benefit then fine. Go waste your time asking other people who've been with Efren these past few days. I did, just to verify what RV told me.

I think it fair for those that have not been paid yet to doubt your post. They are not saying your a liar or ........just with the rest of the pack not being fed why would he be the only one, and Puyat not coming to his defense to verify the situation. I appreciate you sharing your information its just there are so many others in a completely different payout situation. If it was payday at your work place and only the boss got paid and you and the others did not would you not have concern?

I do understand and do symphatize for the others and that's why the info but they do have to run with the ball. As for the Puyat's coming to Efren's defense, why and what for? He's not an aggrieved party. If you're referring to media releases here, well, it's a tool for big business and politics JMO.

Actually, after hearing about the payout, I was happy. To me it just signals that everything is straightened out and the sport will just carry on with its progress.

Also JMO about why Efren first. If the NBA in the 90s or the PGA last year decided to sell the tour, will they alienate MJ or TW? Wouldn't they be a major bargaining chip? Kind of sickening but I have a feeling that it's a business move to benefit the many. A Hail Mary pass.

Ok "bandido"....I guess someone has to ask the obvious so I'll be the fall guy:)

Let's get this straight......you are saying that Efren got his cheque from IPT on Friday 29 Sept and that despite already receiving his cheque,Efren then 5/6 days later on 3/4 October gave a radio interview in The Phillipines at which, knowing he would be quoted in the Phillipine national press, he told the interviewer that he had not received any payment from IPT and that he would not consider it unusual to have to wait even 45 days for payment of prize money from USA.You hint that there are big business/political reasons, nudge nudge wink wink, why Efren would issue such untruthful remarks to an interviewer.

You do presumably appreciate that if all that you say is true it therefore inevitably follows that you are actually saying that Efren is a liar who is prepared to deceive his fellow players and the Phillipines public for the sake of some political deal or objective connected with IPT interests?

The only other possibility would be that you are saying that Efren did not actually say to the media that he hadn't received payment and that the media made it up.

Is that correct? If not, which part is not correct and why did you imply those things?

On the other hand,if perhaps he didn't actually receive his cheque....can't you just say those difficult words "I might have been wrong"
It wouldn't make you a bad person:)

See post #23. If you prefer to be a part of whatever show is going on....Don't you think that it's mean of me if it was false? This "might have been wrong" is nowhere close to "being mean" as a concern to me. Again, see post#23. As for the press release, well, people here have a different attitude. If it's not about natural calamity then it's infommercial and that attitude's a product of all the years under martial law.

Please explain this. I don't think that Efren's at fault here at all.

 Think I'd better leave any further explanantion to someone more articulate and patient than me.

Thanks for the inside info anyway, the need for which would of course not have arisen in the first place had Efren, instead of rabbiting on about not having yet been paid etc etc..... had simply told the interviewer "I've received an IPT cheque for my winnings a few days ago,I'm waiting for it to clear"......;)

Linds,
Thanks for your support of Bandido's first hand information vs. hearsay. I understand that Rolando Vicente is the World Pool Championship Philippine Team Manager.

I do understand where you're coming from, it's easy, just put myself in the shoes of the other players. What I see that has caused this discussion is my good-hearted assumption that the other players too will or has recieved their checks. I do wish nothing but good for the sport and the industry.

Regarding press release. I did explain in a previous post our attitude towards such. A check is a document for an order of payment and I did say check in the other thread that got someone to start this thread. Maybe we should tell Efren how to answer interviews. Not

I just called Capone's (this is where Rodney plays at) in Spring Hill FL 3:56 PM MST in the US and Rodney Morris has not recieved his check, also no others have from that room. So my question is, if Rodney has not gotten his winnings WHY did Efren who lives have way across the world get his faster and before anyone else?

--There was special handling undoubtedly for some political reasons.

---Still I am hearing a couple European players waiting are on the verge of selling the rights to those checks for 1/2 value.

Just imagine the pool god saying KT lied to me. Bad, bad thing for KT.

But my thought is that Efren has a special contract with IPT, since he is actually under contract to appear for the KOH. Efren's handlers probably negotiated a clause to be "surely" paid.
