Efren Reys article

Good article. This was my favorite line lol:

"He's the best I've ever seen," Strickland says. "The luckiest, too. The fans love him and disrespect me."

What a sweet piece of history to read on my birthday.
thanks Terry.

Very nice find Terry... Don't know why AZB won't even let me rep yoiu on this one... Might be too many already...

wow!

Thanks, man. That Pat Jordan is a helluva writer. He painted a picture with words.

can someone put in a cuetable diagram the last shot described in that article? i can't imagine how it went.

thanks!

You're right there. That was a beautifully written piece. Is Jordan a frequent pool writer? He seemed to have a fine grasp of pool nuance. Whatever the case, he's a craftsman.

what's the shot?

I also would like to see a picture of the shot described at the end of the article. Was anyone here there to witness it in person?

does anyone recall the shot efren made against cliff at the derby they described at the end of the article?

what a great article, i really enjoyed reading it, thanks for posting the link. i *did* think it was pretty odd that almost all of the players were named, but the "twenty-one-year-old from Ohio" was only mentioned as "the ohioan" after that? it just seemed kinda odd to me. so i did a little checking and it appears it might have been Dee Atkins, although im not 100% sure, he did win the overall in 2000, which was 4 years after this article appears to be printed and he does appear to be the right age...

It seems as if the writer originally thought that Efren had made poor safety attempt "hitting the ball too hard?" but then as the cue ball and object ball are careening around the table, they collide and the object ball falls. The author then decides that Efren actually saw that shot and played that shot (Or did I misread what he was saying?) . I know he is the magician but that shot sounds TOO magical even for DA MAN!

I'd love to see the shot on cuetable.com layout. Glad you asked the question!

Really good read. What came across most for me is how humble Reyes appears to be and how he is doing what he does mainly to support his family. Says a lot about him.
Though how you can support 44 people on the kind of money I guess he makes, I don't know!

someone should do a compilation

good stuff...

someone should really compile all these nice articles about efren and publish it or something...

better yet a full-blown biography!

someone needs to start working on it! ;)

peace y'all!

I always thought that Ted Lerner would be great to write a book on all the great Filipino players. Efren, Parica, Andam, Luat and this whole new generation of great players. A chapter on each would be totally awesome!
