First off, I am not going to knock Austin Murphy's effort to make it on the voting ballet. Nor his level of play as I am certain he plays stronger than I do, but ...

1. Is there going to be any action on this match?

2. Is there even a way to handicap it?

3. Will Austin be shutout (no offense, but his opponent is Efren, and there is alot of pressure here)?

4. Will Efren give the game his fullest concentration and effort?

I know for a fact that Efren didn't go full throttle when he went up against Xiao Ting Pan, at least Austin Murphy is not an eye candy/distraction.

I'd still say 8 or 9 games on the wire in a race to 15 is just about right...

I wouldnt touch this match with someone elses money. Im glad Austin is getting a chance to play Efren, but honestly, who is really interested in watching this? I can go and pay my 10 or 20 dollars to play against Efren in an exhibition at some tourney and this is exactly what this is. I don't think he'll give it his full speed, and if he does then the score will be 15-2. Just my opinion.

Voting closes today at midnight, and this is the current standings:

1 Reyes, Efren Philippines 24.09 %
2 Murphy, Austin United States 22.07 %
3 Foldes, Vilmos Hungary 16.83 %
4 Hofstatter, Gerda Austria 7.48 %
5 Boyes, Karl England 3.45 %
6 Strickland, Earl United States 3.25 %
7 Martin, Ray United States 2.18 %
8 Bustamante, Francisco Philippines 1.61 %
9 Schwartz, Larry United States 1.52 %
10 Appleton, Darren United Kingdom 1.51 %

I don't believe Foldes could make up the difference in one day without some type of internet scamming.

I think K.T. better do some Florida ballot rigging or they wont have any interest at all.Not knocking Austin Murphy at all,but c'mon, who would be interested in this carnival match?
Efren vs Smorg would be more entertaining.:D

And if you couldnt read the first time.I'm not knocking Austin at all.

I don't care who is playing or what people might think the score would be, I for one will still watch it.

I don't understand why people say they aren't going to watch it, any insight as to why (if you love the game of pool) you would not watch it?

Wow, I like Austin just fine. I think he has set himself up for spanking. Even if he pulls out the wqin you know people are going to say Efren wasn't into it.

Bet on Reyes Austin must be held to 6 games or less.

Bet on Austin and he must get to 8 games or more to win the cash with 7 being a push.

I'm not a bookie and I am not offering this line for action, I merely throw it out there as to what I think the line would be.

IMO this match is a joke along with the IPT.......wont waste my time......... besides. as much as I like Sigel. i dont think I can stand to hear him and KT commentate!!!

I'll watch this... you can kinda compare it to staring at a car wreck when you drive by. Or you can compare it to Sigel vs Reyes in the King of the Hill finals :D

I have agreed with you quite often on your line-making, but I must disagree here. This may be correct since it is an exhibition, but if this were gambling for the cash I believe Efren would gladly spot the kid 11 games.

agreed, but this is an exhibition and you have to factor in Efren slacking a bit. If this was a money match with 10k on the line of Effies dough, then your absolutely right the line is closer to Austin dont 4 or 5.

I will agree that Efren is a big favorite in this match, but I think it will be a good match to watch. For those of you who have not seen Austin play, he has game! He had SVB down 4-1 and 7-4 before losing in the nine ball division of the Reno Bar Box tournament. A couple of rolls going the other way and Austin would have won that match. Austin is not intimadated by playing the top players and sees it as an opportunity to see how he matches up. I will definitely be watching this match.

No

There is no way Efren would spot Austin 11 games going to 15. Apparently you have never seen the kid play! Trust me he plays alot stronger than that. Don't under estimate him. I am not saying he will win, just he plays strong enough to. In a race to 15 anyone at that level has a chance.

No Winner...

Apart from whoever walks away with the token stipend for winning 15 games first there can really be no winner in this match...

If Austin wins big (something I would say is pretty much impossible) then the match just gets laughed off and forgotten.

If Austin squeaks it out then Efren wasn't into it and it means nothing.

If Efren wins big (something I doubt because I don't think Efren would do that) then that is exactly what was supposed to happen so who cares?

If Efren squeaks it out then he was just keeping Austin in the match to make it interesting.

I'll watch because I want to see Austin play the greatest player ever in a cramped studio on live tv (see dictionary defintion of "put your big boy pants on").

But there is no winner here no matter what happens.

Not Austin, not Efren, not the IPT and not the viewing audience.

At the top echelon levels of pool, the separation between someone Austins speed and someone Efrens speed is greater than it appears. Most people would watch the two play independently and have a hard time believing one could give the other 10 games on the wire to 15, but history has shown that this very thing can and does happen in action matches. The truly great players can give up unbelievable weight and win. That is how you can see stuff like Joyner giving up 11-4 to a great player or Parica giving out the 6 and the snaps on a barbox to an outstanding regional player. In both cases I have watched just this and the better player outran it. 10 or 11 games on the wire could be a very good possiblity in this matchup imo if this was a real gambling match. Im pretty sure there would be more than a few stakehorses willing to put up the dough for Efren's side.

I will bet anybody if they spot me 11 games in this match! Just tell me the amount you want to bet and you got me. I agree that good players can and do give up monster spots. I like you have also seen them outrun the nuts. However in this match up I would have to bet on Austin. I have seen the kid play numerous times, and he doesn't fold no matter who hes playing. Oh and to back up a little to the spot getting and giving. I have rarely seen a spot that big. Something like the last 4 or six out sure, but giving that many games on the wire in a short race is crazy. Again any who like it pm me and we have a bet if they do indeed play.
