Efren's superman shot

I've seen Earl clap for difficult shots on numerous occasions. Always seemed genuine.

Also, I could easily be wrong, but I don't recall ever seeing Earl's antics in a match against Efren Reyes.

Can anybody email me the clip or have a different link to it?? Work computers suck!!!

In 1994 Earl was suspended by PBT after a match with Efren.
In The Color of Money in HK, Earl pulled an antic or two on Efren.
Once standing up and questioning Efren's shot plan before Efren shot.

Earl has tremendous respect for Efrens game, after all he calls him "The Greatest Ever".

Efren has a rare talent to make shots that other players dont even see, lets hope he still has another few years at the top yet.

Thank you for posting that!
It is always fun to see some of The Magician's handywork.
That shot is just flat out amazing!!!
Yes, Earl seemed genuine in his congratulations of Efran.

Thanks a million for making that link available. Even though I'd seen it before, watching it again made my night. That's as good a 2 minutes as you will find: Efren pulling the rabbit out of the hat, Earl being gracious in defeat, and Cardone and Sigel providing solid commentary. I WAS gonna stay home tonight, but I find my cue is calling out to me (from inside its case, no less), and I'm entertaining thoughts of heading to the pool room to see how many shots it takes me to just HIT the OB from where Efren was at. Is this a great game, or what?

not to brake down efren at all, i love the guy, but do u think he played the shot for the pot? (ok we always play them hoping we make it, even i hope i make it when i do a 3 or 5 cussion kick, but the main plan is hitting the ball) , but did he really think he had a fair chance of potting it? or would he be glad with a safety? i wonder what efren thought before he shot it, of what his % of succeeding in the pot would be?

maybe he was just hoping to hit it tin enough , to leave the ball on the topcussion and getting the cb back to the lower cussion with as much distance as possible?

no idea, just curious but i guess il never know what efren thought at that moment... Would be so cool if efren could post in here once in a while. Weird these TOP pool players, never post in a single poolforum... i dont really understand it. but im silly solly :p

Hi Solartje,

I don't think Efren went for the safety. It would have required a much harder hit to get maximum distance between the balls. Also Efren raised his fist, and I don't think he would have done that had it been a fluke. We'll never be 100% sure, but I'm at 99%. How's your ranking coming along? I'm at 150 in holland now.

I believe Sols was talking about the first shot in the clip. Efren meant to play safe on that one. When the 8 ball fell he already knew what shape he was going to have in on the 5. He hit it soft to hide it and plus, his hand reaction and look at Earl proves it. Anyway, it was a great turn of events either way. Thanks for posting it.
