Efren's Z-Shot Table Question

I was watching my DVD of the match between Efren and Earl back in 1995 when Efren made his famous Z-shot. My question is what table were they playing that match on?

Was it a Gold Crown 3?

Or was it the Advantage table made by AMF that is a Gold Crown look-alike?

I think it's a legit GC3. Can faintly see the B. The knockoffs didn't have the B.

What difference would it make?????? It was one of the two you mentioned. UPDATE: got REALLY fkng bored and checked. The 'B' is clearly visible on the ball box trim.

Gold Crown for sure.

It's definitely harder on modern pro tables, most of them bank shorter and with 4 inch pockets it's an easy miss.
Don't think I've ever seen a pool table play/bank like a carom table.

Maybe that's a lie... Years ago I played on a Vitalie (sp??) and it played well to the Corner 5 system.

From 5 to 2 to 3 to the corner isn't correct. But that's how pool tables play and it makes Efren's Z shot even more spectacular.

He can figure all the numbers, even when the numbers are all wrong and be comfortable with whatever gaff he's playing on.

When Efren said he "got lucky", he DID.

Hitting the ball is one thing, but making it on the crucial shot is a totally different thing.

I have shot and made shots way harder than that and called them because I had a general idea that the ball would go in a certain direction if I hit it. On occasion, I would actually "get lucky", but if you set the shot up a hundred times in a row after that, I would "get unlucky".

With kicks I got tired of people raving if one went so I adopted the humble ass confession bit. The other thing you get to an annoying degree is "Nice Try!!" .../

Gotta say yes and no. Efren tries many more of those shots than most people so more would fall by simple percentages but also the more you shoot a shot the better you get at it. We are looking at probably three things: Luck, experience, and people remembering the great shots more often than the misses. I can still remember some of the great shots people put on me.

For myself, I find some shots work so I shoot them more often so i make them more often in a cycle. I shoot them with a high degree of confidence too. This applies to Efren. These shots he makes are often high confidence low pressure shots.

Efren is taking one long extended victory lap after he "retired". He loves the crowd's admiration and there is no pressure on him.

That Z in particular looked like a 1 hole shot that was supposed to go to the side rail or land with both both balls awkwardly wedged. He shot it with all or nothing speed too; coin flip.

A young Johnny Archer called and laid out an eight rail Z shot playing me that made Efren's shot look like a hanger. It finally ran out of stem and stopped in the jaws without touching them. Coulda, woulda, shoulda, and all that but had that ball rolled less than another inch it would have been the greatest shot I ever saw on a pool table, live or video, and called every inch of the way.

Big ball, small table?

Big ball, small table?
Small table, I can't remember the ball at the moment. Might have been big, talking within a year or two of 1990. Big ball was fading but still a fair number around. It's getting harder for me to get dates right on shit that happened over thirty years ago. Had a major heat incident a few years back. I came within a few minutes of dying. All my organs took a hit and my memory did. It's almost like a computer hard drive. Sharp as a tack in places, wiped in others. somebody's name from fifty years ago pops in, I can't remember one from ten years ago. Gets annoying sometimes. Same thing I couldn't remember an hour ago, comes back sharp as a razor or vice-versa. This getting old shit ain't for sissies!

I remember stuff I drilled in right lol. At the bars, I'd patently forget names in minutes. It's like I'd have to rehearse and save to brain. :ROFLMAO:

One of the tougher things about that shot, there were still over ten balls on that table. Absolutely tons of traffic. That and the sheer number of rails were the hardest parts of the shot. I tried it the way he made it then I tried it with all the other traffic off the table. All told I put two or three hours into trying to make that shot and never came close. I need to find some software and I could come close to diagraming it.

Shot has me curious though.
