Curious, why start a thread like this ?

She is rated B+ in the various mixed tournaments she enters and you say you agree. Why do you care so much about what she lists herself on her facebook or what the WPBA has her ranked ? She enters WPBA tournaments, earns points which is how the WPBA ranking is established.

Do you have issues with other women ranked on the WPBA ? Should the WPBA kick out women who have a mixed tournament skill level rating below pro, below open +, below open, below A, etc. ?

If her mixed tournament ranking is accurate at B/B+, what is the problem with her entering an amateur tournament ?

OK

so she is currently playing the eastern states in the amature side as a B+ player. im going to agree she is rated correctly. my problem here is she markets herself on facebook as a pro. she is a member of the WPBA a profesional organization. she is ranked 21 in the world as a pro player. Tony came into the booth and described that pros have levels and she is a different kind of pro.
I GET IT SHE IS A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN SHE CAN GET AWAY WITH IT. But this sets back womens equal rights decades. EITHER SHE IS A PRO OR SHE NEEDS TO GO MAKE ME A SANDWICH IN THE KITCHEN. cant be both ways.

SHE IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO A PRO. I HAVE 3 GIRLS HER THAT WILL GIVE HER THE 7 BALL IF SHE EVER WANTS TO PLAY. it a joke . the sandwich in the kitchen sounds more like it. Look the womans tour is no more because there was no talent lets face it . there are only about 15 top woman that can truly be considered a pro player by any standards . and pro standards consist of being able to run out 9 balls consistantly and play perfect posotion. so based on them standards emilly is rated below a C player and to call her a pro just takes away from all the girls that really play good pool and get threw on there ability and not there looks NOT TO MENTION SHE AINT EVEN PRETTY . Sorry emilly im just stating the obvious

According to your standard we have to let all the bangers like Shane, Efren, Corey, on and on, every player in the world into amateur events. Nobody meets your standard of a pro. Gonna be some tough fields in the amateur events worth playing.

Can't wait to see Earl's reaction when you tell him he doesn't play pro speed!

I'm saying she by her own admission she is a pro now she wants to go play with the amature s. . She is falling us or herself

It's just more pool B/S with no organization to make a call. No one says anything when Karen Corr takes down a bunch of baby seals...and she is a real pro. I could name more like her, but you get the idea. Johnnyt

I still don't see a problem with this.

Shouldn't a person accurately rated a B+ on the mixed tournament rating scale, enter the amateur side of a mixed tournament ?

She plays in women only tournaments run by the Women's Professional Billiard Association. She is ranked 21 as a result of her finishes in all of the tournaments. She markets herself a professional, because of this. Sounds like someone with ambition to try and make something from her passion for pool.

Are you saying that any woman who is ranked in the WPBA should enter the pro side of a mixed tournament regardless of their mixed tournament rating ?

Beating a dead horse

Who cares?! There's a girl at my pool hall who is in the same boat! She has the same PRO title. Is sponsered by Ariel carmeli, black heart tips, and she's a five in the APA.

But the most important part you're overlooking is... They act like professionals, promote the sport better then half of the men, and can create an appeal to the general public about our sport.

Ppl complain about how the pros dress, act, etc. but the women don't act out of line. Why do you think the general public would prefer to watch the women then the men. Don't be an idiot and say its bc they're hot. If they wanted hot girls they would watch porn. The women carry themselves way better then the men.

They learn all the little things first as their games improve. Much like a well built athlete that has no skills but the right body and physique.

Don't get me wrong it does sadden me GREATLY to watch some of these girls play but I give them credit for understanding the big picture and where they can go with it just by "acting professional".

I could think of a a handful of guys who could play pro but they're too retarded to understand what it takes to get sponsors and noticed. They would rather just dress like thugs, talk about how good they are, and where the next score is. If they just did what the girls do then they and the sport might have had a chance.

Personally I think she is a nice young woman, fairly attractive and probably a low to mid level women's pro player. Should she be allowed in the amateur side of this event, I think so. The match I just saw she torched a guy that could not make two balls in a row. The score was 7 - 1 but Emily did not play spectacular either.. JMO

Just watched her playing in the Ginky tourney from 2012. She is pretty, marketable, and has sponsors. Nothing wrong with that. She is an APA 6, that is where I put her watching her play in the Ginky.

So, yeah, she should be able to play in any men's amateur event. She has moments of "goodness", I didn't want to say greatness.... but seems like her pre shot routine is not very consistent. And I like watching her play ;) She's making a living playing pool without living in someone else's truck....good for her.

I also think the op is in poor taste and serves no purpose whatsoever.

Live and let live, so what if she is a 'pro' in a world where there are few opportunities to snag? What difference does it make to any of us? What if she wanted to call herself a doctor of billiards?

Was Grady Matthews actually a professor? Feeney a preacher? Efren a magic man? Thorsten a Schwarzenegger? Gary Nolan a friggin landscaper?

Can we really believe Keith mccready was a natural phenomenon (I say yes, to that one )...!

The fact that there are now 3 pages dedicated to this thread is prove enough that Ms Duddy is doing a great job promoting Pool Billiards worldwide at a time when it is needed the most. :thumb up:

Yes that is exactly what I'm saying

You got that right!!!

jeebus... c'mon guys.... Lets say there are 64 women professional players.... Maybe 10 are AA maybe there are another 10 that are A level and the rest are B and under...... I have no problem with women pros being allowed in amateur events unless it's a women's amateur event... IF she spanked your ass in a men's amateur event pull your big girl panties up and go practice....

Emily is actually a very good emissary for the sport of pool... She dresses the part, acts the part and is well spoken when you put a mic in front of her... I would take 100 players just like her, let them all call themselves professionals because that would be how they act...... And they would all be allowed in men's amateur events....

Chris

Anyone can say Im a pro, but playing like one is a world of difference

You said a mouth full !!!!!!!

You got it right! To bad so few see it the way you do, the men pro's seem to be happy blaming the game for their miserable financial state, rather than getting a job or conducting themselves in a way that might attract a sponsor.

I think she is hard working and takes her game seriously. That is what matters to me, regardless of her facebook marketing techniques, posed pictures or whatever. I won't even get started with rankings and pro considerations because is mostly meaningless, to be honest.
More people playing pool, and more pool being played are a good thing, IMHO. Some facebook exposure is also welcome.
