Pool room book signing, reading and party Friday April 11th at 7pm.

My darling daughter Catherine has put all this together. I aint all that anxious to do this, even tho I aint shy, and I do have enough prerequisite ham. (Dealing with the square john public is not usually in my wheelhouse.) A lot of nice people, friends and notables have promised to show up so it should be a nice outing. Plus, I promise to do serious damage at Katz's deli and a few of those NY pizza joints.

ATTENTION: THE BEARD IS GOING TO NEW YORK. THE BEARD IS GOING TO NEW YORK. Mark your calendars - my Pops, Hall of Famer and Sports Personality, Freddy "The Beard" Bentivegna will be in town April 8-12 for the launch of his new book "The Encyclopedia of Pool Hustlers." He'll be conducting interviews at The Ace Hotel(29th/Broadway) and will have a reading/party at a nearby pool room Friday April 11th at 7pm. Be sure to bring your pool cues and probing questions about Elvis, Phil Spector, Minnesota Fats, Amarillo Slim, Goldie Hawn, James Caan, Johnny Mathis, notorious hit man "Frankie The German" and the Weather Underground(to name a few.) FYI The Beard's still looking for someone to "steer" him to a "pastrami joint" with a "good count."

I hope you can get a little "Out of the sub culture" publicity. Maybe a spot on a morning show or a CNN mention. I made an off hand comment on another thread recently that pool may be at it's most obscure place in it's history. It is virtually invisible to the public. I don't see Freddy making it on Letterman, it would be nice though, but as one of the games current raconteurs once they met him they may find him a guests they would be interested in. It is worth exploring.

Mac, I got all the ham I need to handle those eggs. Shy I aint. To me those celebs are just people who cant make a ball!
