Enough Already....

So, essentially, you are asking us not to post about what interest us, but only posts what interests you. And, we have to do that because you just can't seem to skip over the threads you don't like to read. Yeah, good luck with that one.

Neil, we may start burning books and policing every post to protect people too lazy to google an issue. They might believe some joker and we just can't take that chance. I will blame you personally for any disagreements from this point forward!

note: google "sarcastic"

Now, there is a thread about a different aiming system, that a CTE naysayer felt the need to jump in and start talking about CTE.
That naysayer actually pointed out absolute proof of how the "different aiming system" could not and did not find the correct aiming line so people would not be misinformed, and compared it to how it was similar to CTE in the respect that it did not find the aiming line but may still have other benefits for some users. Sounds like a real troublemaker.

The only reason aiming threads get so big is because some on here feel the need to have no real knowledge passed on here.
Dispelling myths IS passing on knowledge, and is certainly better knowledge than the myths themselves. Besides, don't they have a right to their own view, or must everyone always agree with yours?

Neil said:
So, instead of getting down on those that are willing to pass knowledge along, why not spend the anger of the threads against those that try their best to knock any info presented on this forum??
Why not spend the anger against those that insist on passing along misinformation that has to do with the physics and math and geometry in pool, even after they have been corrected by some of the smartest people in America who are also highly regarded physicists and engineers and mathematicians and the like.

Instead, they want to make a mess of the forums so no one can gain any knowledge.
So they aren't entitled to state their position on a topic, only you and the people that agree with you are? That is what you are really saying with this whole post in regards to aiming systems, which is awfully ironic considering that earlier in this very same thread you criticized someone for doing the very same type of thing when you said "So, essentially, you are asking us not to post about what interest us, but only posts what interests you. And, we have to do that because you just can't seem to skip over the threads you don't like to read. Yeah, good luck with that one."

In my opinion, it's not the subjects that need to go off in a corner somewhere, it's some of the posters in them that need to be sent away.
I agree, and if it comes to that it should start with the ones that continue to pass off misinformation that has to do with physics of pool even after being corrected by those with impeccable credentials in the field.

FWIW, I read the first few posts on CTE, tried it out a little bit, more than likely incorrectly as it really didn't make sense to me ... so I came back to the boards to read a bit more about it. By the time I came back, all I could find was arguments and name calling and general negativity regarding any post about CTE. Now all I do is skip any post that has CTE in the title, as I know what it will devolve into.

Do I feel that I am probably missing out somehow in potential knowledge, even if it's not the whole system but maybe just a couple of things I could inject into my game? Yup, I sure do ... but it's just not worth it to me to sift through all the crap, and that's a decision I made.

Asking for some type of immediate censure for any post regarding the subject is understandable due to the way most of the threads turn out, yet it is also selfish on your part. If you, just like myself, decide you don't want to sift through the junk to possibly find the gems, I completely understand that and agree with you ... but others might want to argue about it and even others might be willing to deal with the BS to find the bits of knowledge in the midst of the poop. :)

Just skip over them like I do, it isn't that hard. :)

It's true, and I empathize with you. It seems that what may be one person's cup of tea may not be an enjoyable read for another.

I wish they would eliminate avatars with women posing in vulgar sexual positions, as I find this offensive, but, hey, I am in the silent majority, I guess. :p

I was thinking the same thing as I was reading the op's entry. I think those avatars are offensive.

Way too much focus on this forum on aiming systems

Just get on the table and program your brain to know where to hit the ball for each shot

simple as that

The Renfro...I made that post, but it was only intended to dissuade those who do not have good information to contribute...on a forum called "Ask An Instructor". I never said don't post if you're not an instructor. I also made it plain that I enjoy having many people post in that forum, who have solid information to share. The post was directed at a specific individual who has been known to post inaccurate information.

I know I saw a thread in the ask an instructor section which basically said if you are not an instructor do not answer questions. OK fine... IF YOU ARE AN INSTRUCTOR AND TRYING TO DRUM UP STUDENTS OR YOU ARE TRYING TO BE A PROPONENT TO A SPECIFIC INSTRUCTORS SYSTEM, PLEASE POST IT IN THE ASK AN INSTRUCTOR FORUM....

I wonder who the hell you think you are to tell anybody there's too much of anything on a forum of which you've been a member for, what... 19 days or less? You don't have any idea what this/these forums are about until you've been here a year or so and seen the tides rise and fall a few times.
