Wow, I love this quote and wish I'd known it during my corporate career!

All this talk about the MC, what we really should be focusing on is American players who can win World Championship titles. At the end of the day, the MC is merely an exhibition for entertainment. The world titles are what really matter. Discuss.
So they should start taking Chinese lessons? I don't know . . . I think I'll stick with the getting better American sponsorship idea.
Fine, let's keep beating the same dead horse all the way until December again; meanwhile, U.S. Players will continue to play like crap in big international tournies (those who can actually get to the, that is). But hey, we need to keep talking about a single glorified exhibition, and finding the magic pill for the U.S. Team!
____________________________________________________-I agree with Jam,no disrespect meant to Mark Wilson,he may be a great teacher of the game ,but what titles has he ever won. A lot of the stuff he teaches is just basic stuff that we have all known for years, and sometimes we need to go back to the basics because we develope bad habits, playing tired in a tournament of practicing badly.
I think a team captain needs to be an accomplished pro like Archer, who has played under pressure in big events and knows what it takes to get there. I dont think he is going to be teaching these guys during or in between their matches during the Mosconi Cup,thats the wrong time to be trying something new.
Now to go to their practice sessions and maybe see if he can tweek their fundamentals before hand may be ok. Again like Jam says if he has no titles behind his name, the players might tend to blow him off even then. On another note about competing overseas, what would be wrong with some of the american players living over there for a while to get some international exposure and to be there for some of the bigger events.
I wouldnt be real crazy about living overseas but if they are going to make a living playing pool then that might be the ticket,or maybe several of them ban together and pool their monies and live over there before the bigger events.
Please explain to me then why ALL points accumulations for US events are done specifically to earn the opportunity to play in this "exhibition"?

The Mosconi Cup 'is' only an exhibition for entertainment event-
THAT'S AIRED IN OVER 600,000,000 HOMES!
Obviously, you are unaware of this fact.
and yet it is not aired in the U.S,in spite of the fact that it's a U.S. Vs. Europe vent. Also, big difference between being available in that many homes, and how many will actually watch the event. So, how is it relevant to helping Ammerican players prepare for singles competition in world championship tournaments?
Programming of the 3 Matchroom Events goes EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD EXCEPT THE UNITED STATES!
Eurosport, Sun Sport and a slew of others air these matches.

lol. Really? Might wanna do some more fact checking, because not everyone on the 2013 team earned their way, or even belonged there at all, which was a big contention on this forum.
why didn't you just say-don't play in any events
LOL
who are you?
I'm a fan who gets tired of seeing the same old shit being beaten to death on here week in and week out.
i'm not taking sides - yet. cause we're still sick from Mosconi & i just woke up.
BUT
your little CHICAGO PLAYER (aka Angel)
was THERE
at MOSCONI
dropping $$$$
(and her outfits were to kill for)
So I have to drop cash at the event to be a pool fan?
nope. you don't have to spend a dime on pool, to be a "fan".
but yáll (all of you), need to know that this chick was there THE ENTIRE TIME at Mosconi. (if you were there - you'd KNOW too) i spotted her Day 1, in her fuschia/black top @ Row 3 US side - met her by 3pm @ smoking lounge. Day 2, she had an even better top.... Day 3 - she killed in her gray silk outfit!!!! (while we were all talking w/ Barry Hearn, FYI)
she was there, WORKIN' IT. which is more than i can say for you, "fan". talking w/ all the players - and all of the fans - gathering info to further pool. BOTH sides. showing her new product.
and she m-i-g-h-t, just m-i-g-h-t....know something(s) that you don't -
.
I saw that. From everything I have been seeing pool is growing in Asia regardless of that.
Well good for her. Not all of us have money to burn on a pool vacation to Vegas.
What does that have to do with the topic of this thread, getting American players ready for big international competitions like world championships?
....If we could get a linguist to understand what in the hell Darren Appleton was saying, maybe we could listen in on him and figure out how to win the Mosconi Cup....![]()
g-r-e-a-t....so China has taken over almost EVERYthing. and now they are taking over pool. lovely.
Not moving to Asia to live doesn't mean pro players are lazy. It means they have some common sense.
Wow, I love this quote and wish I'd known it during my corporate career!
Picking up everyone else's slack. Asia moves forward, while the West got lazy and lives on past achievements.
that's hysterical!
