There are individual advantages to doing them. One, being on the mental side. Don't be so quick to discount it.

Yup. Pool is unwatchable and shame on pool players on here who lap up this OCD bollocks. Snooker has no such drama queens, and is a far more challenging sport, both mentally and physically.

I would suggest fans slow hand clap them, but fans??

One of my recent favorite snooker players is Neil Robertson but boy that guy is slllloooowww. But he shoots awesome so I can forgive him
Problem with snooker is not that players are slow but the game is soooo sllllooowww like Test Cricket or golf OMG

What does it matter?

After such a great event, two Americans in the finial 32 and one in the finials.., your bringing up Earl?? The 90's?? And airstrikes?

Justin Bergman is the WORST!

On and on and on and on this Bergman guy does in getting ready to shoot.
Around and around the table, looking at the same shots over and over, getting down and then back up to do the same thing all over again. :boring2:
Shot clocks are needed whenever Bergman plays......anywhere!

Funnily enough, i hesitated when i wrote my post - because of Robbo. But he is the exception rather than the rule, especially wihin the higher rankings.

I assume it's not the air strokes themselves that are the problem, but the time between shots? If so, I agree, and I think all big tournaments should have shot clocks. I was surprised there wasn't a shot clock in the World 9-ball.

There are timers (like chess clocks) available as webpages or simple apps that could be adapted for pool so you don't even need a ref to keep time. You come back to your chair and tap the screen on a phone, and it starts the clock for your opponent. If it beeps before you shoot, foul. It could be used even in smaller tourneys that don't have refs at each table.

no shot clock needed. tournament directors just need to inform players of what is acceptable prior to the event. those that dont comply get forfeited or not invited back.

it takes big balls not to invite a big name player but quickly everyone gets on board and the sport improves for all.

That was a one-off and he's been widely condemned for it. The sport changed after that incident, with OCD cue ball cleaners either coming to their senses, or, more likely, being told by the governing bodies to cut it out.

Imagine that? Pool having a governing body to keep players in line!

Snooker players don't waive their cues around, don't endlessly get down then get up again, shift right, then left, spin the cue ball on the cushion or endlessly chalk their cue.

They just get on with it.

Put a shot clock in. I thought it was pretty f**king funny watching Earl run around the table.

Why do pool-players always find something to criticize about this game? No professional player is ever good enough, no tournament stream is ever good enough... but every keyboard jockey on AzBilliards, with their omnipotent knowledge and presence, spouts their opinion like they matter and will change pool.

Absolutely every player who airstrokes (myself included) has no choice but to be guided to this thread, read your wisdom on the pointlessness of air-stroking and change their form due to your enlightening wisdom. Thank you for your godly service to pool. May Justin Bergman find this thread so he can stop air-stroking and be as good as all of you AZB posters...

F*^#&%g ridiculous.
