if you bought a cue on az represented as nice, and the cue arrived with ferrules that did not appear to be original, slightly different length, about 1/16 inch, probably cut after new, shafts no where near the same size about 13+ mm and less than 12.5.shafts are about 1/16 different in length each and neither as long as the butt which is the cuemakers standard.none of this disclosed in the thread or on the phone.

am i out of line is asking the seller to take it back?

I dont' think you're out of line at all. If it was represented as 13 mm ferrules and if it is 12.5 that's a significant difference. You must, however, have an accurate measurement of what they actually are before you proceed.

If I were you I would.

the shafts were neither the length of the butt or equal to each other, appear to have been cut down by someone else, are shoddy work whereas the cuemaker is top notch, the minute i opened the box this arreared obvious,i ofered to take a $50 loss just to get rid of it ,it was promised to maksatisfy me and after 30 years of buying thosands of dollars in cues each month and never returning or having a single cue returned, this being the first and also an inexpensive cue I would not care if Double D ever did business with me again, because he would never get a chance to do business with me.

He is not the person I bought from,I withheld his name until he had a chance to take my gift of $50 for taking the cue back

I look at it this way. You are not satisfied and have made it known immediately upon receipt of the cue. Full refund is in order.

Dean - If your not happy with the deal and there was misrepresentation - give the cue back.

Nothing worse than getting something that was supposed to be one way and upon on receipt was not what it was advertised to be.

Don't get stuck.

tommy

thanks for the advice,i sent him a note but he is reluctant to take it back.i offerd him $50 to take it back and return my money but he thinks that is extreme.

The shafts have obviouly been cut to a short size making them too short, but the seller says I should have asked before i bought it.Am I really supposed to ask every seller if the ferrules have been replaced,or cut down by someone else,do the shafts wobble or am I reasonably to expect that a cue described as like new does not have any glaring problems

Dean, if you buy a cue from a forum member and you do not like it for any reason when it arrives you should be able to send it back in the first two or three days. So under the circumstances you described there should be no issue at all.

Easy there. You did not say in the original post that it was shoddy ferrule work. You didn't say what was guaranteed. You gave very few details and I was trying to put it into perspective a bit--hence my use of the word "if". Besides which I said that if the ferrules were shoddy work, you should get a full refund.

I would never want to sell anything that someone wouldn't be ecstatic with.

The fact remains, tho, that we have heard very few details from only one of the two people in the deal.

You may want to rephrase that I had nothing to do with the sale and have never done business with you. The above quoted post can easily be misread and could sully my name.

Thanks,

Dave

The facts that you don't understand is that Deans reputation on this forum is spotless. In addition he is a well known cue collector who buys and sells cues, so before you bark at some one with your views do a little research. I have taken it easy on you here because you are a new member and obviously have little understanding what this thread is about and that is etiquette. His actions to date were well within the parameters of etiquette until your initial post, he only asked a question.

I don't personally think he should re-think or rephrase anything. what I do think is that if you can not answer a question in a civil manner you should stay out of other peoples threads and continue to Lurk. Because if you are really concerned about sullying you name you should be very careful who you attack and what you say when you do.

Just my thoughts

Full Refund

A full refund is in order including the original freight charged. You pay return freight. A person who is not happy with his cue purchase can always return it if they are not happy to any reputable seller, no questions asked.
Unreputable seller you may have problems, if so please let us know so we can avoid him.

double d had nothing to do with the sale,i thought i stated that.

i was taken back by what i thought were sarcastic comments but as stated he was not the seller.I hope that satisfies him.I did not reveal the name of the seller, but only asked advice.

Thanks to those of you who have offered sincere advice.

I don't personally know anyone who's responded to this thread, but I've read many posts made by a few of them.

Dean, I think that every bit of advice you've received so far has been 100% sincere.

I think it would be good to hear the sellers side of the story. I know Dean has a great rep on here, but in one post its described as "nice" then in another its described "as new". Thats a big difference.

I typically dont sell cues online, because one persons oppinion of nice can be so different than another persons. About all you can do is post lots of pics and hope for the best.

To say its a cheap cue, and then complain about 1/16 diffence in shaft length seams extreme to me, but again Deans standards are probably much higher than mine. Our calssification of "cheap" is probably different too LOL. But if the ferrules are really in bad shape that could be a different story. The first post just said they didnt look to be original, not that they were in bad shape.

If your willing to lose $50 on the cue, and the ferrules are the biggest problem, why not just have new ferrules put on?

I dont have a dog in the hunt, and am not trying to be thrown under the bus or take sides, but working as a retail manager I know there is always two sides to a story, and the truth often is somewhere in between.

Will the seller step up and comment?

Woody

Manwon/Craig, I really hope you haven't run off someone who has so much to offer this forum. Your entire post leaves me feeling very confused.

DoubleD/Dave, I hope you reconsider your departure.

I really did not read DoubleD's post as being attacking. I have to admit also, that Dean's response to DoubleD's post initially made me think that Double D was the seller.

I didnt read DoubleD's post as attacking either, and based on his and Deans posts after dont think their was a problem.

Manwon's post could be taken differently though. Dean asked for oppinions and DD gave one, I dont see where he was out of line?

There is no true reason for confusion, my words were very clearly typed. All DD had to say was yes he agreed or no he did not agree, without all of his comments. Dean has been handling Collector cues both High End and Lower for many years, so when he claims to have a problem he will be supported by many forum members.

If he is that thin skinned that he has been run off, maybe INTERNET sites are beyond his comfort zone in the first place.

Have nice day!!!!

I don't see anything inflammatory in his posts that deserved the level of negative response he was given. I imagine he did not know Dean's qualifications. None the less, Dean's qualifications hardly make him exempt from having someone answer in what appeared to be a mildly disagreeing answer to his post when he was asking for opinions.

Dean's latter posts made it much more clear the extent of the cues condition, but it was not that easy to determine how bad it was from his 1st post, at least not to someone like me that does not have his knowledge level of cues.

I simply did not see any reason for a rant against DoubleD. Maybe your strong feelings of Dean's class and knowledge made you read DoubleD's post with a protectionist bias to start with.

Craig, by your rationale, Dean hardly had any reason to post this thread at all, did he?

You were rude, and I was confused not by your words, but by why you wrote them. I still am. Dave doesn't need thicker skin; someone else needs to brush up on his manners.

I will say this...

If a Seller can't honestly describe the flows in what they are selling, then don't even waste peoples time. As a buyer and international at that, it really is a total waste of time and money. Shipping Cost alone is already at least $50 one-way. When I return a product, the is $100 out of our pockets. Who got scr*w*d then?
