The Euro Tour Italy is underway, was a full field of 256 players. Some interesting announcements, the next event will be streamed live on the internet with live updates just like the European championships, the eurotour has a new sponsor, forgot the name the its a gambling website I think. The final of this event will be shown on Eurosport again and a seperate venue has been set up for the final, oh and a new strip club has opened in Trieste which beleive me is good news as Iàve seen more bars in the Vatican!

Won my first match this morning, beat hohman 9-0, oh sorry he didnt turn up so I sadly didnt get to play him :(

You dont really need me to post results as they are updated regulary here... http://www.epbf.com/sportsite/2006/Eurotour/Italy/Italy.htm

Ciao :D

Thanks for the link. :)

Good luck in the tournament, too! :p

BTW, though this is the Euro Tour, there is one representative from the United States: Nigel Francis. Is there any more information about this player, and why aren't there other Americans in attendance? :(

Thanks in advance. :)

I think Nigel F lives permanently in Europe, if I have to guess - Netherlands. He is a nice, friendly guy.
He has participated in the last 5 eurotours, so he shows up regularly

Why no americans: same old reason - price money are too low I guess. The tour is popular among european players though - until now because the best 24 or 32 have qualified to the World Championship and the fact that it is the only european tour. (and its a very tough field, more fun than playing national tournaments)

Now, with TV and new sponsor ( TheOne, is it BetandWin perhaps?), maybe playing on the tour will become even more attractive.

COHEN Stephane FRA - SANTANA Sergio ESP 9 / 5
KRALJEVIC Moreno ITA - YASSIN Mohammed LIB 7 / 9

Stephane plays pretty sporty, looks like Moreno needs more practice!! Rooting for my European brotheren, thats cool.

Dammit! This event is being held at my house?!? Why aren't I there?

Didya notice that, Craig? Hows about a picture for your old chum?

I believe Nigel comes originally from somewhere in the Carribian. He's is in the Air Force and stationed somewhere in the UK. I have talked to him briefly at the the last two Eurotours in Rankweil, Austria. I expect to see him in a few months at the next Eurotour here in June. I played at the last Eurotour in Rankweil and went 2 and out! 9/7,9/7. Scheisse!!!!!!! I look forward to meeting The One, and I would like to see The Unknown Pool Player if you remember his old avatar from FINLAND make it over to play. Yes I'm calling you out bubba!!!lol :D I wanna see that Scruggs. His friend Markus Juva won it last year against the snooker legend Tony Drago in the finals. A great final! Juva really played flawlessly and deserved the win!

Hey, if Thorsten doesn't show up, he can't beat you. I am prepared to make the assumption that you would have beat him 9 - 0......but he'd have won his next ten matches and then beat you in the final.

You know sjm I was really looking forward to playing him as I know how much you rate him, this is the second time though as he chucked his match in Korea because he knew I was awaiting the winner! :D

I just won 9-2 probably play Cohan next, a very good player who finished 3rd in the last event in Prague.

Nigel I beleive lives in London now but he also player in thw World Summit and US Open last year, where I met him for the ffirst time. Ive been to two Euro tours now and missed out on the coverted last 32 3 times!!! I now have two chances to make it this time, hope so!!!

Blackball I will do my best, sorry didnàt make the connection I had erased you from my memory :p

Will hopefully be in Austria, yes that was the sponsor. Interestingly they told the players that they MUST NOT bet on themselves, how they stop this via a friend I dont know!

PS
Thanks JAM

I heared there are quite a few (50ish) players that didn't show up for their first match. That's kinda sad at that level. Well, at least all th dutchies are there (about 12 alltogether). I'm pretty sure Nigel Francis doen't live in Holland, don't know where he does though.

Good luck Craig. May the balls roll your way.

Remember, the WPC will be in Manila (Nov 4 - 12). That alone will keep you all pumped up. ;) ;)

nice one brother!

hey two things

1) are you ever in one place for more than a week

and

2) At the riv last year, what did you do for the internet connection. ive read a few other guys saying that it is impossible to get interent at the riv, but i was sure you got it, for $10 a day or something.

I hope you play well, and roll all these euro mugs. Play like you did that night in the side room against me, and you will find that roberts your farthers brother.

Take care mate.

Well done Craig...get yourself into the money and there's no stopping you :D

Craig beat Brian Beekers, a pretty well credentialled player this morning with his second devastating 9-2 win!! That's 27-4 record so far :p...not too bad;)

tickets, yeah you rember almost correctly, you cna pick up wireless in the rooms for about $15 for 24 hours, extreemly pricey but what can you do, it may be cheaper in other hotels close by or you can use the booths of course across the street. Best thing is everyone chuck in and get the wireless option every couple of days, works out cheaper if a few of you.

Thanks guys, I just beat Stephan Cohan 9-6 in a scrappy match, hes a very good player so Im really pleased. I played really well in patches but even though I was 8-4 up I had thrown a couple of frames away. I wanted to make the last 32 so badly I started twitching a bit and he came back to 8-6 but made a tough run out and fell over the line lol.

So yippee last 32 single elimination finally and expenses covered, draw later tonight. Oh well there goes my trip to venice lol!

i never heared of nigel either in holland or in belgium. Im pritty sure he dont lives there. ( at least he never entered a tournament that i know of in belgium or holland region)

Beekers is idd a very good player. He also likes to participatein some big opens here in belgium. Winning from him is always nice.

i havent had time to check on my local boys but ill do so asap. I hope 2 or more will make it to the final32

theone, let me know if u play vs some belgium players. ps whats your real name?

Sol, Nigel lives in the UK, mu name is Craig Riley as per my dodgy website lol

I will let you know about any belgiums, although I know one lost to a German as Imran was expecting to play the Belgium I think, dont ask me his name but it will be on the website. Cheers

Two very good wins mate! Congrats! I just saw your result over Stephan Cohen and came here to post it...but you beat me to it...lol

Seems your game is pretty strong at the moment...should give even the big guns like Speedy Souquet a run for his Lira..:p

Well done Craig, a spot at L32 is a good achievement, we've seen many pros miss the single elimination at Eurotour events, there are just so many good shooters there. And beating Cohen is nice, he's got a few EPC medals under his belt and he's definitely a dangerous opponent. Good luck for the L32 and from there on....

Great tournament, TheOne! :) Keep it going!

I don't get how y'all are reading this Euro Tour website about the tournament. It's a menagerie of links with charts, codes, and colors. I navigated around a bit, but I couldn't find out, for example, how Fabio Petroni is doing in the tournament. Being that he's Italian, I figured he'd be there, and I'm curious. He's been hitting 'em pretty sporty last few outings here in the States. :D

I see that Thomas Engert has NEVER missed a tournament on the Euro Tour. They should give out a bonus to players who don't miss any event on a tour, IMHO, kind of like a Cal Ripken, Jr., Award or something. :p

Marcus Chamat of Sweden doesn't look too shabby in the rankings either! ;)

And what in the world is a "walk-over"? A buy or a forfeit? :o
