Yup; I just got to watch the match. Six B&Rs for SVB -- a 4-pack and 2 singles. His other 3 breaks were 1 scratch, 1 dry, and 1 wet followed by a safety (not a good safe, but Drago botched the response). No missed shots for SVB, as you said. Drago messed up all 3 of his opportunities.

he missed one now. tough kid, this andri januarta. it's 6-5.

edit: 7-5 svb. both dogged the 9. jetlag kicking in maybe

tyler is out. the big upsets i was expecting, mostly from the bulgarian contingent, have come to nought. (not counting georgiev)

scott frost takes up a lot of space when he plays pool, he has a lot of "presence".. that certainly hasn't changed.. i only watched a little. the table speed caught him a lot, he played good safeties on himself
JJ repeatedly talked about how Frost was misreading the speed of the table and the slick cloth when commentating on his first match. You could almost see JJ shaking his damn head, as he talked, and Frost made the same mistakes over and over again. It was kind of funny.

Seems like Frost did more of the same in his second match.

Tyler being ousted so early is, alas, not as uncommon as it should be. Nothing else really to say. He quit prematurely in the first match and blamed jetlag, but many other players had jetlag.

Following the European Open, I think it will be interesting to see how the K.O stages will unfold.
MR so far pretty much ignored the players, who were on the WPA side, on social media and the TV coverage.
With the Premier League coming up next week and two spots still open, I wonder what MR will do, if someone like Filler, Albin or one of the Ko brothers wins the event in Sarajevo.

They were sending emails out to subscribers asking them to register to play, they were seeming pretty desperate before the WPA people were allowed in
I am a subscriber. I was not asked to register to play. I was offered an opportunity. I saw it as a benign marketing gimmick for a new video website and acted accordingly. So far as we know, Bob Jewett was only person to do go this route.

Perhaps MR was desperate, but asking one guy to play was not going to solve the problem.

Whatever the case, MR had no problem filling the open. Tons of Eastern Europeans joined. I imagine they had some inkling of this weeks ago.

Emily was talking concerned on podcasts etc about maybe not filling field as well.
They have obviously done so now, so it's irrelevant but I'd think that's most likely reason he entered instead of seriously trying to make a run

Well, we've lost two Fargo Top 100 players in Grabe and Krause, but for the most part, the favorites have had an easier time of it than I can ever remember at a Matchroom major. It's forgivable, too, as the event was announced so late. Not that many players can go to Bosnia at a moment's notice, and I'll give a lot of credit to all those who capitalized on the unique opportunity to play in a prestigious event.

Let's not lose sight of the big picture here. Matchroom has delivered once again, bringing a major to a new corner of the globe, as well as creating a new event for the juniors. As they always have, Matchroom has continued to set the stage for the growth of pool in a new country.

Stage 2 looks tasty, and there's some great pool to come. Good luck to the remaining 64 players.
