Ever Miss An Easy Shot

Im the best on my team at working around the holes.

We've all missed easy shots for one reason or another. Open table and we lose concentration and step on our own d*cks somewhere during the out. Well don't feel bad. Happens to all players at some time.

Years ago I remember Danny D. missing a ball close to the pocket playing one pocket and it sold out the game. The room erupted a bit because a lot of people were betting. Danny Just turned and said, "Nothing about this game is automatic".

I saw Miz miss a straight in shot like 2 feet from the pocket in a big tournament. The thing was, he got up off this easy shot twice before shooting and missing it. You could tell he had lost all focus and could not tell where to hit the ball.

Oscar Dominguez missed with ball in hand at the Chuck Markulis Memorial Tournament at Hard Times Billiards in Sacramento just this past Sunday. It has happened to everybody that you miss a super simple shot or even ball in hand I don't care who you are. Some will deny it, but they aren't being honest...lol.

Funny story. I was gambling scotch doubles and one of the guys on the other team is a strong local player, we will call him Mike. I don't remember how it came up but somehow the topic of missing with ball in hand got mentioned. Well Mike just started going off about how he could never miss ball in hand, and making fun of the very idea and how impossible it was, and he just would not let it go. You have to know him but he is a real funny guy and was being real animated about it too.

Nobody else is even saying anything about it but he just keeps going on and on and on making fun of how impossible it would be that he could ever miss with ball in hand saying things like "man if I ever miss with ball in hand I'm gonna hang up my cue and start selling Bibles, I swear the next time you saw me I would be selling Bibles" and other such stuff. Well I kid not not it wasn't but about 30 minutes later when he did exactly that, missed with ball in hand, and on a simple and routine straight in three foot shot at that, not even a tough one. Needless to say three out of the four of us lost it and were rolling laughing and play stopped for bit as we just kept laughing and making fun of him about the whole deal and telling him we better see him carrying a stack of Bibles under his arm the next time he came in the pool room etc, and even he had to see the humor in it. The timing was just too perfect.

Yup. Happens to all of us. I remember watching a video of Lou Butera missing an easy ball in hand. I've never done that....right.

I was playing 9B races to 5 for $50 @ race back in the 80's. We each won a set and I had an open table and was going to show the little punk I was playing how easy I could runout on his ass. After the 5 I shot in the 7, leaving the 6 hanging in a dark corner pocket. He jumped up and said something laughed. I wanted to beat this guy so bad, I almost went off on him, until I realized it was my own fault for acting so cocky. Johnnyt

Nope.

All shots are difficult for me...so I've never "missed an easy shot."

But seriously, the easy shots I miss are when I use extreme inside english. I think it's just become a thing where I'm psych'd out about them.

Awesome :)

I would have walked down the street, picked up a bible, brought it back and said first one is on me :)

Playing a hill-hill league match on Thursday, ball in hand and I intend to draw back 8-10 inches or so to break up a cluster...

Naturally I launch the cue ball off the table and into the spectators.

Great video to save and watch again if or rather when you're going thru a rough patch. When I see Efren miss a layup I realize sh*t happens to everyone.
