Everest Tip by Tiger On R 360 Shaft

Maybe 50+ years of playing with Triangles a Le Pro's had me in the dark ages. I mean that in a good way...I think. I can not control this tip at all. I want to draw back 3' and it goes 6'. I mean the CB draws a few foot with my softest stroke I own. I mean to control this SOB you have to hit the CB with in 2mm of where it needs to be hit.

I got my Viking with a Triangle on it out tonight. I have no problem drawing or to stun the CB where I want with it. Is there that much difference in a Tiger compared to a Triangle? I'd have popped it off already if it wasn't so much fun drawing 5 rails with little effort. :) Johnnyt

My OB Classic Pro came with an Everest tip after I had played with Mooris for years. I love the Everest. It's getting to be about time to have it replaced. I'm going to put on one of pooldawg8's milkduds that someone gave me, but I won't hesitate to go back to the Everest if I don't dig it.

Yes, my OB came with an Everest layered tip and I hated the feel of it. This if not a layered tip. Johnnyt

There is a difference in the ease of applying spin, otherwise nobody would go through the trouble of making layered tips. I switch back and forth between layered and single layer tips and rarely have any problems. Everest are not top of the line in layered tips, and I personally do not like them (not that anyone should care), because they have the tendency to glaze over fairly quickly. As far as cueball control is concerned I feel they do the job well. If you are careful about scuffing and use good chalk you should be allright. I personally prefer predator chalk with these tips, because I feel it adheres better than other kinds and does not make a mess like Kamui.

This not a layered tip. Maybe they sent me a shaft with some other brand on it. I'll have to look at some pictures on Tiger of the Everest. Johnnyt

I guess it is layered if indeed it is an Everest. They must be darn thin layers. It has a red disc near the bottom of the tip to tell you when it needs changing. I know the Everest that came with my OB shaft had that red disk on it. I feel like I need 2 OZ. less cue with it. I took the 6" extend off and it's still uncontrollable for me. Johnnyt

Tigers Everset tip ROCKS !(IMO)
They do just what you say they do. ;)

There's 1 thing: once they wear beyond 50%, they don't seem to stay consistent,(from my experiences anyway). I know all about tip maintenence,.... its not that. I have just found other tips that wear longer (with proper care), and hence get a better bang forthe buck. I used a medium. They are really nice tips for draw though.

I predict you will dig it...very much! I just put pooldag8's milkdud on three shafts, replacing my worn out Kamui Black Soft tips...after a couple of months, I went ahead and ordered 6 more to have on hand. I'm gonna slowly stockpile these, so I never run out. I'm done looking for the perfect tip, I found it.

Thank you very much. Now I know it's just me getting use to it. Johnnyt

I too love gadgets and contribute regularly to improve the economy of pocket billiards. But I'm confused by your post and some of the others. You love the Everest but you're going to replace it with an elkmaster thats been soaked in milk and compressed? What the heck. Looking back I have put on every tip mentioned here and cut it off to try something different myself. Thank goodness all that experimenting hasn't affected my game. I can still beat everyone I could always beat and the ones that I couldn't beat I still can't beat. My consistency is impressive!

It's not the tip, it's the shaft. My regular playing cue is a standard maple shaft, aegis ferrule and morri med tip. I have a second shaft with the same set up except for a ki-tech med tip. Either of these shafts will do what I ask. I also have a cuetec r360 and that thing spins the cue ball more than any other cue I've ever hit with. It's impressive and frustrating at the same time. My only advise is to play more center ball. Stay away from the edges and it will just put less spin on the cb

Why is it confusing that I want to try different tips? Yeah I dig the Everest tip, but here's the thing maybe I should have said earlier. It took more maintenance and work to get it to play good than other tips I've had. Now it's awesome right at the end of its life cycle but it was a little work overall. So I'm going to try out this tip that I got for free that everyone seems to like. If I don't like it I just ditch it and get another Everest. No big deal.

I got it figured out. I just ran 47 balls. This does not play like my original R-360 shaft. I think they made it even better. If you can't draw 6' to 5 rails with this...take up stamp collecting. Thanks for all the help on this thread. Johnnyt
