Expansion Project Begins.........

Nice Table. In picture S3010065.JPG, tell us how you would run it out (seriously)... I think that new posts showing your thought process could help your run out percentage. Others can then help you when you make a 'mental' mistake, not a physical mistake.

ok, here's some pics, hope they turn out decent. went with the standard green, but almost wish i would have had Powder Blue installed in spite of everything being blue.

funny thing about the light. when i stand back towards my kitchen area everything looks pretty bright. but when i am at the table usually one end seems kind of dark. but overall, i think i will get used to it, and it will be fine - considering it was only $40.

As time passes you'll forget it was only $40 and wish you had a real pool table light so you can see.

I like the green! You are gunna love having the table right there where you live. Mine is like yours in that it's within 6 feet of where I live.. i.e. watch tv, post on the az forum, work on my cues, read,.... everything I do involves being not more that 15 feet away from the table.

i did run this out yesterday using this scheme. so, here goes:

right english on the 1-Ball, brought it back up close to straight in on the 2-Ball.

stun the 2-Ball for position on the 3-Ball.

pop the 3-Ball off the rail for a shot on the 4-Ball into the side.

a touch of inside english on the 4-Ball to get better position on the 5-Ball up into the corner pocket.

kill the shot on the 5-Ball for position on the 6-Ball, leaving a slight angle to float up towards the 7-Ball.

slow roll the 6-Ball for the shot on the 7-Ball which gives you a two rail shot up to the 8-Ball.

i ended up about where the 1-Ball is in the original position. a little stun back down table for the 9-Ball into the corner.

might not have been the way Allison would have done it, but it worked according to Hoyle for me yesterday.

thoughts?

DCP

p.s. hope i made myself clear on how i ran this.

You have a pool table with a house around it. How sweet is that? Cuz the house part gives you a place to keep your pool accessories safe and dry. And, kitchen available and lounge area between lengthy practice sessions! Very nice. OK, do you have some time frame goals? Top ten US Open placing in say, 5 years?

The photos seem to show that the windows cause the ball shadows, and the one end is more poorly lit. Was the light on when you took the photos?

Brunswick Light

Have you considered the Brunswick GC Light? It matches the table and practically eliminates shadows. It's a little more than $40:p, but it really does the job.

I also would consider dark stained mini-blinds for the windows so you can play during the day without glare and shadows. Dark stain would match the table and maybe convince your decorator to allow the tourny blue cloth:)

I have a GCIV and I splurged on the light. Only regret is that when I go to the local PH, I have to adjust to the shadows.

Nice looking room by the way.

Don't worry about the light. Hell, if I had one of those tables withing 50 miles of me I'd play in the dark.

But then if you had spent the considerable time and money to get one of those tables within 50 feet of your bed, wouldn't you want to see it? It's almost a twilight zone scenario; you get the perfect table, perfectly installed, but you can't see to play - you forgot to ask the Geanie for the right light - arghh! Not to say that DCP's light is the wrong light, just to say that lighting is important.

I agree with you Tommy, I just order a $750 light for my table. I just couldn't see spending all kinds of money on my garage and table, then cheap out on a dinky little light. I am going to have it painted to match the table.

Great room! I have the same table sans decals (I wish I had them). The Green looks spectacular. You should get a gold crown light, it really matches the lines and finnish of the table. I got mine for $400 when I got my table from a room that went belly up. No way I was paying $1,800.

A well lit place to play

As a table owner.. get a light for sure! Whether you care or not your brain is registering the shadows.. that's a distraction. You also want your table to be as close to regulation setup as possible so when you do get to the US Open you won't have to set up elaborate lighting shields to create shadows on the TV table.

All of this was said, over and over, BEFORE he builit the room but he just had to have that dining room light. Go figure.

i dont think you posters read my posts. or else you forget. the #1 reason for not putting alot of $$$ into this light, and going with the $40 Home Depot special is because i dont really know for sure how long i am going to be living here.

3 months? 3 years? 10 years? have no idea. my dear old dad is almost 90 years old, and doing pretty good for a guy his age. but then again, he is almost 90. and please, dont anybody misunderstand me here. like my banker told me, when the folks get that old, you have to start thinking about things..........:o

besides, its been two days now, and this light doesnt bother me at all.

Whether you are there or not the light should go with the table. If you move then throw the $40 home depot special back up on your way out. Tell your banker to give you some jing and go buy a real light for your table. You are putting mud tires on a race car - makes no sense. JMHO.

Soooooooooooo......when you do have to move, you are not taking the table with you??????

Why would you leave it behind??

And, if you would take the table with you, you couldn't take a "nice" light with you?????

Makes absolutely no sense to me

You can bet for damn sure that when/if I move, I will be taking my table and LIGHT with me!!!!!
