F-250 smashed through Diamond Billiards today, tough loss...

I think some of the message above is quoted but I'd like to make sure this is very cut and dry, HE WAS SERVED THREE BEERS THERE.

The above may be easy to prove. Look at the credit card receipts. Hopefully, he paid via credit card or debit card. 3 beers would mean a roughly $20 bar tab. He paid his tab before leaving I am certain?

When the pool room gets its payment from the credit card processor. Make sure they keep the records for that day and look for William Gulliver on the records. I highly doubt he paid cash as most people NEVER use cash anymore.

If it goes to court then subpoena the banking and credit card records, that way they can defend claims of over serving alcohol at the pool room.

Over the limit...

Sounds a lot like the case of an old guy running his car through the Third Street Promenade during a farmer's market... pissed off old guy loses it, uses his car to
settle his score. Sounds like he was f***ed up before he even walked in to Diamond..
5X the limit on three beers?... I think not.

Go Diamond Billiards on your re-opening!

Look up wino in the dictionary and that ass wipes face will appear.

Just think of the DT's he's going through in jail. Payback.

Really sucks. Horrible.
But about the tab... A 75yr old dude is a lot less likely to use credit. As a general rule.

News media says "five times the legal limit" is what he blew. What was the number? In my neck of the woods, .12 is the legal limit, I think. If he blew a .60, he'd be dead.

Does anybody know the legal limit in Florida? Why don't they say what he blew? If .08 is the lega limit in Florida, does that mean he blew a .40?

If he blew a high number and was still functioning, he is, most definitely, physically addicted to alcohol. Everybody else would be dead or passed out.

Hey Jennie, See post #71 there is a link from a news anchor that says he was .402 so he was more than five times the legal limit of .08. Here is a little info for you and others from personal experience. My wife's younger sister was an alcoholic and was beaten and hospitalized many times by other abusive drunks. We tried everything to save her but ultimately she was beaten to death by one of them. Anyway one time she was taken to the emergency room and she was barely able to speak but still somewhat coherent at the same time. they ran her BAC test to see how much she had is her system. She came back as .55, as you said .60 is dead no human can tolerate .60. The doctors were stunned and in disbelief so they ran her BAC again. Once more it showed .55,she was muttering but semi coherent. We were not there,so I have to go on the info they gave us but we were just stunned!! Alcoholics drink around the clock non stop and apparently can tolerate huge amounts of alcohol that a normal person could not. Such a tragedy, for all the injured parties especially the Gravely family.

It's .08 BAC in Florida. He blew .402.

He was served three beers of which he drank two and wasn't there long. Was kicked out for groping a woman by the server and he went out to his truck and was revving it up for about 5 minutes but no one knew that inside. Someone that was leaving saw it but just thought it was someone having vehicle issues or something like that. When they heard the news later they told they saw that.

Even the police say he didn't seem inebriated until he was at the hospital. He had lots of empties in his truck and who knows if he downed a fifth out there or something.

Guy is a fully functioning alcoholic per a neighbor of his IIRC.

No one at Diamond Billiards knew the guy as well.

JAM, that was a very lame attempt on my part at sarcasm. I was just joking.

He was reported to have blown a 40! Cops explained that career drunks build up a tolerance.

In NC blowing 25 is instant trip to ER. That's usually a fatal alcohol content.

Diamond Billiards had their grand reopening today and I'm here. The place looks great! These guys busted their asses and really pulled one out, I'm impressed.

SVB is even here for the weekend! He has the Challenge of Champions Tuesday through Thursday at the Immokalee Casino about 30 miles away so he'll be here all weekend.

I can't not think that William Gulliver is out on bond sitting in his home in St James City (10 Mike's from here) probably cracking open his 10th cold one of the day while awaiting trial. He's plead NOT GUILTY to the charges he's being charged with.

Anyhow, just an update and all of us here will keep trying to win!

There was a guy who smashed his truck through a window a pool room in Vegas, this was about 20 years or more. This place was on Tropicana and near Maryland, I remembered it after I read this thread.

Didn't "someone" drive their truck into Pool Shark's during the Dippy Dave hay day a few years ago? Remember I'm really old so I might mis-remember :sorry: .

How's the equipment?

I was there last winter and they offered free pool during the day, but the equipment was in very poor condition. Know the answer to any of these?

Did they recover the tables before reopening?

Are the balls cleaned regularly?

Still free during the day?

Any reason to think they will keep the place up better?

Are the same people running things?

TIA for any light you can shed. This place had great possibilities if managed a little better.

From the pictures, that place looks top notch?

That seems like I remember about that , that's not a good neighborhood.
Hell I used to live at Twain and Arville , about 25 years ago, lol.

The entire place has all been completely redone. Tables, balls and all is new.

Well I wanted to say thank you of course and wanted to update all that cared and that donated about the accident back in July at Diamond Billiards in Cape Coral Florida...

This makes me angry. Ron was one of the nicest and happiest people I have ever met and he took his life and changed another's permanently and his family's as well as friends. I hope he does in prison...

Driver gets 7 years in fatal Cape Coral pool hall crash

The man charged in connection with a fatal crash at a Cape Coral pool hall last summer has been sentenced to seven years in prison.

William Gulliver, 75, of St. James City, initially entered a plea of not guilty in September. But on Monday, he changed his plea to guilty and was given seven years in prison, followed by three years of probation.

Gulliver was charged with felony DUI manslaughter after he crashed his truck into Diamond Billards on Pine Island Road.

The crash killed Ronald Gavel, 60, and seriously injured another.

Gulliver was found to be five times over the legal limit, having just left the pool hall moments before the crash.

Also Monday, Gulliver had his driver's license suspended for the rest of his life, and he'll have to pay $20,000 in restitution to the victims.

This is a ****ing disgrace. 5 times over the legal limit and ended someones life and destroyed the lives of countless others...

SEVEN years is it? How old he is should have nothing to do with it.
