I have been looking for a RAMBO cue case for a long time.

with 'updated' rings on the shaft and butt and a steel
replacement joint of the original brass - not unheard of
due to the fact that the butt joint collars are infamous
for loosening with age.
To a collector, I would think that would make it LESS valuable,
not more. MrHoppe and TATE would have a better feel for influence
on price.
There is some chance it's a reworked Rambow - I don't know
if anybody could tell at this point. Herman typically cut his cues
and re-attached under the wrap - that is what he got his patent
for. But I have seen verified Rambows that were unchanged
from the full length Hoppe 'blank'

TATE said:This is right on - a re-worked 1950's Willie Hoppe Pro. The wrap, joint, and rings are all changed out, so the cue might be cut under the wrap as Dale points out. The rings are unusual and look pretty new to me.
The case is an original Palmer case from around 1970 with some added lettering.
