Fake cue! Iam sorry even iam fooled

ginacue/ tad/ early black/ and had a schick sneeky with a 18 thre i think that is all the living hall of famers! all ginas and tads except early ones were 3/8-12

I wasnt aware about TAD and early Black also used the 18 joint. TAD and Black were always outside my budgets, and didnt see many for sale. I learned something today.

The cue looks like an Audrick. I think sombody bought an Audrick and then put the signature on it. I could do a fake signature and its not that hard if you can find a pic of a real signature. No I have no reason to fake a signature but its the same process I use putting my signature on my work.

In the 60s and 70s. Since the 80s at least no big time cuemaker has used 5/16x18 threads with a stainless steel joint that I know of. I speak from personal experience with Schon, Joss, Tim Scruggs, Joss West, AE, Nova, Black Boar, Szamboti and many others. I have no hands-on experience with Gina cues so I do not know if those cues currently use 5/16x18 threads.

Discussions like this are unfortunately a double edged sword. On one hand they offer consumers the opportunity to get a checklist to help with authentication. And on the other hand they offer counterfeiters a checklist to help them get closer to the original.

The safest course of action is to obtain letters of authenticity from whomever is qualified to provide such and go with that. If at some point a fake is so good as to fool the qualified authorities then it might as well be real.

tribute

?? It's not a "tribute" to anything or anyone. This is a 100% knock-off, in every sense of the term.

Major kudos to Bill for calling it out. One should never doubt his integrity.

I agree, this is a counterfit and fraud and should be treated as such. Trying to white wash it by saying it is a tribute is nothing but making the matter worse. Apparently the cue maker or the one who refinished it is not very proud of his work or he would have put his own name on it. Butterflycues

I know from experience, its quite easy to spot the differences between two item AFTER you know one is a fake, or if you have the genuine article in your hands to go side by side. Its quite another when the item is singular and, after all, its not like there's a rash or fake Mottey out there, its not something one would be on the alert for.

Ginacue and (I think) Tad both use 5/16 18, neither really fall into the category of low-line production cue makers.

Thanks

Kevin

AZ has alot of great people

that is why i joined AZ after i looked around the site for awhile i seen more and more good people willing to help others and do the right thing not very common these days

nothing about it looks like a mottey to me. not sure how this one slipped by
we always want to give people the benifit of the doubt and the story was good!.. and alot of cuemakers early works look nothing like ,later stuff thats beeen refined by years of TRIAL AND ERROR. I and even in my buis iam always in trial and i make errors LOL!!! this one is a big error and we learn from our mistakes and learn more when it tuggs at our wallet. i was told it was a very early mottey and that mike johnson from jensen cues was refinishing it and sanded the sig off and tried his best to put it back,, but the whole story was all fabricated . . I always have gus szambotis and balabushkas checked out but i never thought i would have to worry about motteys! LOL . My whole intentions of my post was to come forward and tag this cue so i would be the last one to lose a dollar here. and inform as many people " as time get tough in our economy more and more people are scamming , and to be wary of all you buy" we stand behind all we sell even many years down the road and we want this industry to be upright and we will do what ever it takes even if we have to eat some crow to help keep you safe or a little more aware in your future deals! we did not have to come forward we could have just burned it in the fire place. but we figured even if it makes us look bad it is worth it,if it saves one of the many forum people ,that might not be able to afford it. from getting reeled in by a sweet story! Just check storys out it can save you a tummy full of crow God bless you all
