I doubt Sigel is really that low in terms of ability if he started playing again- I know he is old, but if he went back to playing consistently, he would probably be around 730.

Fargo 751 means Filler. I think Sigel getting 14 on the wire in a race to 21 vs Filler sounds about right.
Fargo difference of 100 means that the lower rate player would expect to win 1/3 of the racks. Hence, it would take a Fargo 751 to be a fair match for Filler at 10 games on the wire on 21. Donny Mills is about that Fargo.

I agree, Mike still has such solid everything he’s capable of playing well above 675 speed. I’ve played him (when I was playing about that speed) it wasn’t a winning game for me. It was a few years ago.
The guys who are champions always have a threat that normal players don’t have. Also Mike knows how to win as good if not better than any player. Which counts for a lot.
The flip side being age, Mike might miss routine balls now which he’d never have missed in 1986. It happens.

Note that, given the huge 172 Fargo points in difference, AND the long race, FargoRate predicts that there's at most 35.84% chance for Mike to win a 8-22 race in chart R15.

I was there to watch that match. It's hard to gauge a match made for funzies.
Mike is 71 years old and hasn't played any serious pool for decades. Getting 14 or 15 game on the wire to 21 though? I'd still bet on Mike (if he'd practice for a week).
Yeah I think I'd bet the farm on Filler if he gave Mike Sigel 14 games on the wire to 21. Earl still pockets balls as well as any American not named Skyler or Shane, and even he would struggle to get to 7 against Filler because his break is so sub-par.

thats why with the way tournaments are set up they should skip the playing part and just hand out the money according to their fargo's.

Ya know what the difference between Mike and the other 679s? Mike really believes he's capable of playing well and beating anyone in one race. Confidence goes a long was in pool.

His cue ball had no rotation on it upon object ball contact.
He most always struck his cue ball Dead Center, as good as Filler.
