I started in Fargo in 2019 I think, sometime around 2022/2023 I was at 630+ with just over 200 games in the system and I stopped playing. Since then I have played 4 or 5 small tournaments and did well (couple of 2nd and 3rd place finishes). My current FR is 617. It fluctuated quite a bit for the first 1.5/2 years but it's been stuck at 617 for at least the last year or so.
ratings are really for leagues and small honest tournaments. when the money starts to get interesting then expect for people to game the system.
only if the t.d. would ban those he feels are not honest about their rating, can it work for bigger money.
if you are lower rated in your class then expect to have no chance.

The big money tournaments of this kind require the players to make their Fargo games “public”, so the TD (and anyone else) can look at all of their games to look for evidence or of dumping. They also require a pretty high level of robustness (which makes the rating less sensitive to a few dumping attempts).
So if a player is close to the handicap limit and has a bunch of suspect losses to lower players, the TD can just deny entry.
It’s not perfect but it is something.
