I am nearing the end of one full week off of work and I am still struggling to try to get thru the totally unsolicited steamy pile of VHS dung that that Fast Larry has pinched off in my mailbox. As I posted earlier, FL claims that one of his dogs can pull off a shot that only one or two human professional players could pull off. Imagine Tiger Woods claiming that his dalmation can putt better than VJ Singh. Pool and golf are very similar "psuedo-sports" but somewhere along the line something went very wrong for pool. Pool's credibility takes a huge hit from idiots like this. I spent a few a few weeks in the the UK and snooker is as huge a draw as NFL football is here. There has got to be a reason. Fast Larry is to pool as Hulk Hogan is to wrestling. Alot of flexing, bullsh1tting about how great you are.

Fast Larry is a decent trick shot artist with a huge ego problem. Quit pretending that you are a top notch pool player. Your speed pool and your silly power shots are mind numbingly boring to anybody who has a true appreciation for the game of pool. Feel free to post a measley 50 ball run or a 5 ball 3c run on your crappy website. I'd be suprised.

Yoshiwara (sp) is a true trick shot artist. Never claimed to be better than Efren, never chucked his stick or his visor or his hairpiece on the table after a trick shot, like he just cracked the 4 minute mile. You will forever be his beeyotch.

I completely agree. I cannot/will not watch the trick shot shows on ESPN. They do not interest me whatsoever. Last yr at VF Shannon Daulton said "the sad thing is that joe q public thinks these guys are good pool players". :rolleyes:

Hi, Timberly. :) I think an exception to the rule has to be Mike Massey.

Even though in today's times, he is recognized as a world-renown Trick Shot artist, I have seen him play competitively at 9-ball tournaments, and he's got game. :D

In many of my older pool periodicals, i.e., On the Snap, Pool and Billiards magazine, Mike Massey was right up there in the top 10 competing with the likes of Mike Sigel, Earl Strickland, Nick Varner, Kim Davenport, and Buddy Hall.

BTW, as an OT, if you go to Atlantic City, I'd scrap the pool. There are so many OTHER activities to enjoy, and if you go shopping, you MUST check out the gift shop at Trump's Marina Casino. You won't be sorry! ;)

Mike Massey does not play world class 9-ball nor does he do anything else on the pool table world class except trick shots. He is a great player and the greatest trick shot artist on earth with the most powerful stroke in the world, but he plays 9-ball at the shortstop level.
 
I disagree 100 percent.I willing to bet that Mike Massey could be beat some of the top players [maybe 10-20th ranked players.Besides it takes alot of skill to do some of the trick shots.I know I have spent many hours on some of them.Not all are set shots that anyone can make.But i dont know anything about this fast larry guy where can i read up or watch the movie.

Pool should be so lucky. The Hulk started out as a "bad" guy, then he became a "good" guy and he really put "Pro Wrestling" before the masses. They came in droves, first to boo him, then to cheer him. He didn't care, just so they came. With their money. The Hulk was, is, a first rate "showman".

But Fast Larry is no more here. He has been banned for what, 6 months now, yet he still attracts thousands of views when his name is mentioned.

He is a showman. Pure and simple. I suppose if he shot a CB off the table into a boot he would be called an idiot. Yet Mike is cheered for doing what is basically a simple scoop shot. The only hard part is placing the boot in the proper spot.

I suppose if you were to watch Ray Martin and Buddy Hall play you would also put them down since they routinely lose matches now. Yet Ray Martin won the US Open Straight Pool three times. A feat unmatched by anyone, except of course Earl Strickland. But that was 9-ball. How hard is it to win the US Open three times? Well if you consider the fact that most likely 95% of the people playing pool can not even win 3 matches in the US Open I would say pretty hard.

And what are the odds of one person winning the US Open 5 times? Buddy hall won it twice.

Most likely winning the US Open 3 times was a deciding factor to vote Ray into the BCA HOF. So why was it not a factor to put Earl in?

With 4 posts he wasn't even AROUND when FL was here...not to speak of the fact that he hasn't been around for a long time. Go over to RSB and you have Splinterhands with this same identical post started in a thread over there. It's VERBATIM!

Normally, I don’t comment on threads like this. But YOU, the glorious DM, criticizing regular members for making comments about the nameless one. DM - the master of mayhem, who, if not mistaken recently started a thread about the unspeakable one and his reacceptance back into this very forum. Amazing!

Don’t get me wrong. I do find many of your posts humorous and insightful, but sometimes I think you overextend that good-guy persona.

What kind of crack are they selling in Fla? SMORGASS BORED started a thread to get FL back onto the forum. Wake to hell up, man! That entire thread was turning into a trash pit, which was really it's original intent!!

I started a thread asking MIKE to make a Yay or Nay decision HIMSELF, to put an end to the crap. It's not up for a vote by any of us to begin with. The "Majority Rules" does NOT apply here, and shouldn't.

Please post the thread from ME showing where that happened.

I also don't EVER post under aliases, multiple user names here or on any other forum. I have another name on RSB that I started about 4-5 years ago and have ONLY used that name and have ONLY used Drivermaker here. I can't even use Drivermaker on CCB because some idiot stole my name and started making troll/trash posts over there as if it were me.

Murdered Pool???

I have been missing so many easy shots lately that I knew what I was playing was not pool. Now I know why. Pool is dead and I now know I can blaim FL for murdering it. So it is not my fault I have been missing so many balls. I am just trying to resurrect a game that is already dead and Fast Larry killed it. It is all Fast Larry's fault I hung two nines and an eight last night in one race to three. I am just curious what day Larry murdered pool, because I have been playing like garbage for several months now. In nine ball anyways. But I played pretty good eight ball in the only eight ball tournament I played. Maybe he just murdered nine ball and I should switch to 8 ball since it seems to still be alive until he catches up with it. Am I understanding the meaning of the title to this thread??

Don't worry, Fast Larry already has accused Mike of this over on RSB where no-one can moderate him.

Personally I'd be perferctly happy to never see another Fast Larry thread of any kind here. I see no point in criticising someone who is not here to defend themeslf, no matter how deserving of it they are. If anyone wants to read about him just go to RSB or that forum he runs for himself about himself.

Do you think FL actually deserves consideration? Who gives ANY of us the right to talk down to, insult, hijack threads and turn any productive pool discussion into an ugly heap of putrescence? And totally inundate the community with a multitude of worthless bantering threads.

I’ve never met or conversed with FL, ever. And from what I’ve seen over the net, I have no desire to do so.

But imagine this forum as a pool hall, which posters would get along and which wouldn’t? Would FL fit in or be avoided? All we have to guide us is the typed written words we see. So, judging form FL’s past history, would he get along using his past posting methods in a pool hall?

DM, I may have rubbed you the wrong way, but I’d bet we’d get along in a pool hall. I can’t say the same for FL.

Regarding the other post - I could be wrong, but IMO, I still find it hard to believe that Smorgass Bored started that thread. The login and password may say one thing, but something about the writing style seams different.

And I never implied or said you posted under an alias.

I NEVER thought Mike would reinstate him on this forum and I made multiple statements expressing that. A better question is....why didn't SMORGASSBORED use a PM instead of adding a troll/trash thread of he REALLY wanted reinstatement. My intention was to end it right there with Mike's decision. You need to go back and read my opening post...I asked that NO ONE RESPOND to that thread other than MIKE. Did THAT look like a publicity stunt.

I think you're still the one on crack.

But then on the other hand in the paragraph above regarding it being someone else other than SmorgassBored and the writing style being different, I think you suddenly got sober. There were FAR to many differences in the normal style, although THAT will be denied.

Just don't be going back on that crack again.
