I had to pick the baltimore bullet based on the number of times I watched it. I am happy to see it on the list. If you like bad comedy and pool it is a must see.

I even have the hustler, TCOM, and the baltimore bullet all on my cell phone for long rides and boring moments. And I can honestly say that the Baltimore Bullet is the only one that I have watched all the way through on the cell phone.

Now I think the opening 20 minutes or so of the hustler is the best segment of pool on film period and I can watch that over and over again. However all the romance stuff bored me to tears.

Yeah there was a lot of romance, but that was the only way to introduce Fast Eddie the human being into the movie. It was the only avenue for Eddie to really open up about what pool really meant to him. Can you imagine him opening up to his pool cronies about how beautiful a feeling it was when everything was just working? I found the romantic stuff boring after several viewings, but first couple of times it worked real well.
What made "The Hustler" more than a pool movie is that it went beyond pool, it went to the people behind pool. That is why it is a great all-time movie and why it reached out beyond the pool community. TCOM had some of that, but not as effectively as The Hustler.

I had a hard time believing that tom cruise's character could be a great pool player. He worked in the same town that fast eddie was in and yet he remained unnoticed until the opening scene. How could you possibly be that good and fly that low under the radar?

'The Hustler', hands down, but I liked 'Pool Hall Junkies' because of its hard hitting, nail biting expose of big city street-toughs trying to make their way in the seamy underbelly of urban poolrooms where the only person you can trust is your mother and your parole officer and your not sure about your mother. I cried when the dog got shot in the end.

That's what the fast forward is for! Cut out the romance and the movie is even better. In my top ten movies of all time.

I'm not getting Pool Hall Junkies. I thought it was the worst written, worst acted movie I have ever seen. Embarrassingly bad!

I still watch TCOM from time to time. Wish Paul Newman made a trilogy out of the Fast Eddie character. If you can pick up a copy of the book, there is an entirely different story than the movie.

Been years since I saw BB. I remember I liked it quite a bit. Never see it around anywhere. Even for sale.

What??? No "Kiss Shot"???

I am *SO* surprised to see that the pool movie "Kiss Shot", with Whoopi Goldberg, isn't listed!;)
Such a great movie with *state of the art* filming!
(lol, I can't keep a straight face... forget it)

Just when you thought "Poolhall Junkies" was the worst... think again, my friends!

Speaking of movies I have been looking for a copy of the hustler dose any body know how I can get one

The hustler was the best film but baltimore bullet probably entertained me more in a mindless lotsa-laffs kind of way.

Where's shooting gallery? juuuust kidding. Shooting gallery = poolhall junkies starring the bad lieutenant and marcellus wallace and the world's most boring lead and love interest.

any one seen "turn the river" I bought it from a video store that was going out of business, but I have yet to watch it all the way through.

I cannot take this thread seriously.... Rocky didnt make the cut?

Dude - Eye of the tiger comes on the jute box... and you have no chance.

IMO

For anyone who thinks "Pool Hall Junkies" was down right horrible, you must not have seen "Shooting Gallery". Rent it, watch it and try not to hate me in the morning.

That movie was terrible... what's funny is the title is based on Poker, and it's got ONE scene of poker, the rest is pool! It's only worth the watch because of Famke Janssen's hotness ;-) LOL

The Hustler, of course.

A timeless classic. And an incredible Jackie Gleason. Truly a 'classy' man!

The Hustler was just an amazing movie and an easy choice for me, but The Color of Money got me playing more pool. The Hustler can be watched by a wider audience, it's just a classic, both films capture the time period very well.

I have been waiting and waiting for both the Hustler and The Color of Money to get the bluray treatment, I read they really fixed The Color of Money.

I have yet to see Baltimore Bullet

#1 With a Bullet

I voted Bullet for entertainment value. Wasn't there another good one? "Duke and the King" maybe?
