Favoritism in pool tournaments

Bob -

Favoritism is to give someone an advantage.

Seeding players is a joke, IMO. The final 4 or 8 may or may not be the best players, but IT IS LIKELY they are the favored players.

I do agree that the "favored" seeded players are less likely to loose money on tour, hell I almost guarentee it.

Im not saying it is not the right thing to do (okay I am saying it is wrong) but dont say it isnt favoritism. Maybe thats how AF, won so many tourneyments, she got a few byes.

I have to agree that seeding players in any tournament is wrong. Part of a tournament should be the "luck of the draw". The blind draw can give some great matches in the beginning of a tournament and allow lesser players a chance to get in the money.

I agree, don't care for seeding. BTW - the Tri-State Tour uses the blind draw.

If the point of the tournament is to attract gamblers with the chance to win money in spite of the fact that they're in the bottom half of the pack, then I agree with you. If the point is to find the legitimate champion in local/state/national/international championship, then I think you are completely wrong.

Further, if the idea is to have a tour with some chance to support a core of top players who will be willing to go to nearly all the tour stops under the current financial situation, seeding is needed. This assumes that you are having the tournament primarily for the audience rather than as a gambling instrument for the players.

As was pointed out before, the ideal is a round-robin of all the contenders, but that's too expensive for most situations. The IPT was a multi-round-robin format, but it was fully seeded.

I am replying about the banning of this guy for speaking out on some issues. I agree with the lady previously that why was he banned? She is right, look at his posts,he wasn'nt writing out of the ordinary.

If I had to guess he must of touched some sensitive spots with someone in that tour. Maybe he had a point. You know what they say......where theres smoke....there is fire.

The mods of this forum have nothing to do with the tristate tour. I offered a couple reasons for banning and they are legit. If you think the guy wasn't "out of the ordinary", something is wrong. The guy went nuts and tried to start a fight. Not normal behavior.

I do however find it funny that "miscue", "poolmaster" and "billiardboy" all are on the same boat with low post counts and such generic usernames. Hmmmmm.... Wonder if thier IPs match?

Point being, if you or your voice is going to hold any weight here, it helps to state your name or at least have a history of posts. Otherwise, just seems like the same guy with multiple user names trying to get his way with something. Wouldn't be an issue on a "what shaft do I get" topic. But on something serious, it makes people wonder, "who is this guy?" rather than listening to what you have to say.

Instead of being so defensive on this issue why not look at things from billierdboys point of view, what if he was right and something was really going on would that bother you or dont you even play in the tournament?
I gotta tell ya, I play in the tourny and I am starting to get curious about this after talking to some people.

Its not about being defensive. Billiardboy came on here rambling about this and that and never really said what the problem was or who was causing the problem. Then he went on to make a fool of himself and act like a 9 year old. That gets you nowhere. Now he is creating other usernames and trying to take a more conservative approach, what you should have done to begin with.

Im not defending the tour and YES, I do play on it. Im simply saying, causing a stir and not presenting facts or even saying the real problem will get you nowhere. Maybe first you can tell us all who you are and we can go from there. :)

This is awesome!

Strange how both poolmaster and miscue gave me neg rep, pretty much at the same time. They must be thinking on the same wavelength.

I just want to say something to all of you who have been participating in this bull****! How do you people go to bed at night and look at yourselves in the mirror knowing you receive all this favoritism? I am not quite sure whether to name people at least at this time unless someone gets me pissed, but when I play in these tournaments I visualize these certain players wearing nothing but a large pair of diapers!

You guys should be ashamed of yourselves!

it's not my fault i'm pretty
