Fedor Gorst nominated for Mosconi CUP Team USA!

There you go! A monumental lift to USA hopes in the Mosconi Cup thanks to a little tweaking of the rules in our favor. Boom, just like that one of the best players in the world just changed sides. Similar to when Johann Ruijsink was moved from captaining the Euro side to our side in the past. Except this time, we just got a massive boost in our player pool. All this due to Fedor recently being granted permanent residency in this country. It's still a long way from becoming a citizen, but it still grants him pretty much the full rights of an American citizen. He can own property in his name but he cannot vote or serve on a jury. I believe he still does not have or travel with a U.S. passport. I may be wrong about that, but my wife has permanent residency here and she still must travel with her Philippine passport.
That it is!

It is 99.9% prank from Jayson. Matchroom is always the first one to release such news and there is no such on Matchroom FB ;)
Seemed pretty obvious.
If he was taking a jab at Fedor, I know several people who will gladly help Jayson pack so he can live where he represents.

Another brilliant move by Matchroom. Once again shaking things up, keeping things competitive, and keeping the easily excitable excited.
I am super happy for Fedor, who deserves the chance to play, and I don't care which team he's on!

What it means to represent Team USA is worth discussing at an academic level?

America keeps finding new ways to include people to be part of American culture.

I have never felt that way about a lot of other cultures. Non American cultures always
make it seem like they dont want Americans but they want American money.

I admit I'm of the opinion MR did it to avoid another lopsided shellacking.

However, at most, they are guilty only of jumping the gun on what is a certainty -Fedor's US citizenship.
I feel one should need citizenship to represent a country, but this kid has been banned from events, lost potential income, and faced difficulty traveling for some time during the BS. It must have been weird having a blank avatar next to his name for so long once he was allowed to compete. During that time he was welcomed with open arms in the states by pro players and community members alike. There is no surprise he chose to make America his home.
absolutely this.

to include people? LOL, what? :ROFLMAO:
Include and accept anyone that can make $ or boost ego, perhaps.

Beyond that, it's 100% 'GET OFF MY LAWN' mentality. Politically, ideologically and deeply ingrained, even into the faux-left that exists there...

It's banter that stimulates interest... he probably couldn't give a flying f*ck (unless he is truly worried that this is what levels the playing field and that he'll lose out on some prize $$$... still can't see that happening tbh...).

But such banter does get people motivated or interested.
British banter, in all it's negative glory, is something that will always be lost on most of the world.

At what point time could anyone have simply decided to say ok you can be Team USA?

Why now?

Is anyone wanting to be Team Europe?

It makes sense why Asia does not want a Cup event. Or any unifying event, too many trouble makers in the area.

Asia doesn't want a cup event, because there is no real rivalry (beyond ones that would create deeply uneasy reflections of political affiliations...)

Team Europe is a powerhouse already. A pretty inclusive one to boot.

Why now they mention Fedor? because speculation breeds interest, last minute calls make people talk, all of which motivates people to watch the actual event...

Not rocket science my good professor.

An opening like that merits 500 word response minimum. And wait to take turns.

Good God, I wouldn't want to tempt you. I rescind my statements :ROFLMAO:

But I would say, people are looking well beyond the obvious here for the most part...

Imagine how the education system will evolve to explain this.

These are exciting times to live in. Even better to share the experience on the net.

Exciting? if by that, you mean baffling and uncontrollable, whereby tomorrow any batshit crazy nonsense can be made acceptable and justified by $$$ but dressed in whatever outfit placates en-masse. Then I agree.

Education evolves, as it always has, at the hands of policy makers disguising biased narrative as the 'right' or morally correct thing to do. Something which is literally my job to discuss, and I won't bore you with.

The internet is a blackhole that provides a mouth-piece to even the most deranged *everybody here can wave 'hello' now :)*

It takes like minded individuals.

That is all a movement needs.

Like minded individuals.

And a few influential people above them, tapping their fingers together in the style of C. Montgomery Burns.

If my IP was in the wrong place, I could expect a knock on the door.

Mr Smith plans to take me to the Matrix.
Send the white rabbit.

Asia has an (mostly) amateur city cup event every year, that has Bangkok, Singapore, Ho Chi Min, etc taking part in.
