Denise's Belanger's 10 Ball Quest

Hi everyone, I am excited to say that I received a much anticipated invitation to compete in the Women's 10 Ball International Championships being held in New York from Dec. 16-21, 2014. I have longed for the opportunity to compete in such a prestigious event for so long but it had always been just a mere dream to not only earn an invite but to actually get myself there to compete. Given the time constriction of confirming my entry, I also have to make travel arrangements, accommodations, etc. I look to my friends and fans to aide me in fulfilling my dream to represent Canada at this prestigious event. Please donate whatever you can, it will go a long way! Billiards to me is a passion like none other and to live my dream with your help and support would be so very much appreciated! Thanks everyone for your support! Xo

Good luck on your quest. Several people have been put off of these donations from the last buddy hall episode. I would show a bio and picks of yourself to make people know and want to see you do well. How much are you trying to raise ? Are they part of your action ect. I would have references etc. Maybe you can sell placement on your jersey? Just my .02

Looks like there is a Denise Belanger that is a photographer in Canada, guessing that is you? As above, info about your playing and tournaments, etc... would help.

There a several of these requests going around. I'm all for self-enterprise, however this was inevitable considering the entry fee for this event.

If these girls are receiving invites to play, then why do they have to pay an entry fee?
Playing pool is just too expensive

The issue is likely the travel costs. Even if it was free entry they still need to raise the money for travel.

Ran into the same issue with kids that were going to China. Sure they won a spot by placing top 2 at US Jr Nationals, but no financial support to actually get there.

My son gets "invited" to play in the Natioanals all the time, only costs us about $1,200 or more for plane, hotel and food each year. Sometimes you're better off not being "invited" and just staying home and buying a car with the money LOL

I will start with best of luck with your dream, always reach for the stars and you might get there.

In addition to what others have posted, I will point out she is new to the forum it seems with 18 posts.

18 posts and begging for money from her friends here? come on. whether its pool or whatever you need to learn to fund your own conquests in life.

Best of Luck Denise, I hope that you make it.

Sorry, I won't have anything to do with the Go Fund Me site.

Just last night, I ran across one. A college student had his motorcycle stolen and was looking for enuff money to buy another.

It is an easy task to follow your dreams, with other peoples money.

Without a professional pool bio, maybe some pictures, and only 18 posts on AZB, I would say that you have a long road ahead of you.

I believe that most of us would like to know that we are just not making a car payment for yourself.

Bellanger. French for Bell Lawn Jay, soft Jay like Zsa with a long A. Prolly in Ontario or Quebec. Just a hop over the NY Border. Shouldn't be much expense in travel.

Cross over at Niagara Falls to Buffalo. Grey Hound. Hop on an Amtrak to NY City. Pretty cheap.

Yes, I have empathy for the juniors. After all, they not eligible to go to work full-time...

I agree. I've travel over the pond to play tournaments in the USA on a shoe string budget. All of which was my choice...

Feb 2010 is not exactly new. However, the majority of her posting history has had a similar theme. I admit, the vast majority of mine is posting ridiculous pictures, but hey, I'm also not asking anyone for anything (except for the mods to not ban me)

Playing pool is expensive though with very little return on investment, so if you want to donate to her cause, then more power to you. If it's not your cup of tea, you can also pass this thread on by and live and let live.

Got screwed too many times here lately. I've help send or sent many players to tournaments over the years her...no more. The last place I'd help send someone is to a CW tournament if I did still do it. I'd be suprised if the tournament gets 30 paying players...then what's the added...50 cents? Johnnyt

I'm gonna start a new thread asking for money for that shiny new bowling ball I've been wanting.

What happened with respect the "the Buddy Hall incident"? I am not aware. thanks

Maybe, 2 years ago, when Buddy Hall was a co captain of the Mosconi.

I don't recall if that was a Go Fund Me or not. Raised money for Buddy's travel expenses.

Not a post after to say, Thank You.

There were problems with items auctioned off by JA and Big Truck.

JA dropped the ball, disappeared and left Ray holding the bag.

That may have been what he was referring to.

Crap like that only ensures that it is a tougher row to hoe for others with more legitimate causes on AZB.

Oh, but we are just Trolls, Haters, Negative Nellies and Debbie Downers when anyone remembers those times.

Beer and gas is pretty expensive in Canada. After a few eye openers on AZ, I am pretty cautious on who I send money to.

So what is the difference between this gal asking for money or the producer of a show featuring Scooter asking for money. And no offense to the original poster here, but if the Scooter show is legit and takes off, he will profit much greater off your donation than this poster will. And the Scooter producer isn't making any offer to reimburse anyone if he winds up making millions.

How many would have even opened this thread if it weren't for the title specifying it's a female in need?

it may not be a scam but a red flag has gone up for me.

and seriously, yet another non-contributing member asking us to fund her dream.

good luck to those reaching for their wallets.

best,
brian kc

a quarter? i'd rather fund her than Scooter.... or CLEARY - (at least i know what i'm getting!)

if she is legit, then more power to her for asking - can't hurt, right?

but this is getting real old. i read where "ëveryone" is behind the juniors, yet they probably didn't raise $100 via AZB to help send them to China for a $40K ticket last month.

then the Mosconi fundraiser - how much did that raise?

plus Buddy Hall....

meanwhile, my stores don't have enough credit to prepay &/or drivers are hijacking trailers to sell on the side for Xmas presents for their kids, so my furniture doesn't ship, and i don't make commission - now my mortgage is past due & my son didn't get a present for his 14th birthday this weekend.

join the club, OP. if you can't afford to get there, don't go. good luck & nothing personal -

Johnny still owes me a signed stick for my son Benjamin. Ray has fixed the shirt situation.
