Ferrule Materials

Who is selling the xtc? Atlas had them but the recipe had gotten bought out and they replaced it with the titan. I like both but would like to get my hands on some more xtc.
Thanks Mike Gatzke

the one i got is has a card in the bag that has the atlas logo on it advertising "NEW" xtc ferrule.

i guess that means it's old, lol.

i live in winnipeg, mb, canada, and the cue store here doesn't have many left, so i guess this doesn't help you out much. sorry.

but you say these are good ferrules?

xtc

Yes I like the xtc ferrule followed by the titans myself. They do not hold chalk and machine rather nicely. I have not tried the ivorene IV yet will put some on my next atlas order if I remember. It will have to wait. I spent over my budget for at least 2 months just this last week.
IMHO ferrules are like tips and tapers and just about any other aspect of a cue either you like it, hate it or deal with it.

Best regards Mike Gatzke

ps. If anyone who has xtc in stock that does not use it I would be willing to purchase it to take it off your hands.

Saber T Ferrule

How do all of you guys compare the Saber T Ferrule material? The Hit and the Harness of the ferrule is what I am looking for. Right now I use Melamine, and I own some of the older ferrules, but he new ones are terrible. I am thinking of switching to Saber, but want to know what the hardness compares too.

billiardbum,
How "new" is the melamine you have? What is wrong with the "new" ferrules?
I have some that are about a year old, atleast that is the last time I purchased them.

Thanks.
Chris

The ferrules are about 3-4 months old, and they chip out when cutting them. Definately something they are aware of, where I bought them. They said lots of complaints, but that is the only kind of Melamine they have and can get. They definately are not as hard as they use to be either. The older stock I have, is awesome, no chipping and no chalk residue. I did not buy my stock from Atlas, but they do still sell LBM ferrules. I talked with them today, and they have them in stock...Guess I should have tried LBM from them. Can anyone give me feedback about their LBM ferrules, who have bought them in the last few months. Thanks

I bought melamine ferrules from Atlas last year.
They're not even melamine.
The melamine I liked was the glass melamine or G9.
Not this crappy white chalk pitty kind they have now.

Exactly. I bought some a month or so ago and it looks more like Ivorine III than a true melamine. I still have some of the old stuff from 10 years ago or so. No one ever asked for it or maybe they don't know I have it.

I was told by the extremely knowledgable  Atlas sales staff that they no longer offered Melamine for sale. I bought some of the "new" Aegis that they said you could only get in a tube...it's full of trash...a waste of money. I did also try their new Ivorine 4 (they said it only came in a solid rod) and its superb...very clean, EXTREMELY strong, but you can see the "weave" in it....it looks like blk/brwn canvas...except white.
I believe the best stuff going right now is Tiger's Saber T.;)

Varney - Ask for Chad, he will hook you up at Atlas... What do you think the SaberT hits like? I am guessing like Aegis? Let me know what you think please.

Depending of course if you go capped or not...very similar to the "old" Aegis...a lot like Ivorine 4.

Older SCRUGGS Q's had a unique sound (ping?). Any idea what they were? Does the tiger "t" (capped) have a unique sound?

THANKS

They still call it Melamine.
It's not glass-based Melamine as far as I know.
